#@!%

1. Stress putting the sewing room together.

2. Slept for shit last night.

3. Woke for good at 4:54 a.m.

4. Got motion sick (again) doing yoga and ab work.

5. Tried to run errands when stores opened at 7:00 a.m. but nobody had the canning jars I need.

6. Lecturer got all whiny and irritable when I told him we were out of a form (it's available just across the fucking street in Strong Hall).

7. Already hungry.

Anything else? Anyone? Anyone?

What sort of canning jars? And if they're the right type, would 2 or 3 be any help, or pointless?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm looking for the "Collection Elite" (http://www.freshpreserving.com/products/ball__collection_elite__platinum_wide_mouth_half_pint__8_oz__glass_preserving_jars/15.php?page_id=18) style of Ball canning jar. I need about ten of them.

Rats. Not the right sort.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the offer!

8. Last night at yoga Gopi taught us some mudras to help with allergies.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I admit I've always been skeptical of the mudra thing, but I'm willing to give them a try. Do you remember them?

[identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! Gopi gave us a personal anecdote about getting rid of a ragweed allergy!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be great if I was allergic to ragweed.

=D

I don't suppose she mentioned any particularly for mold allergies, did she?

[identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
She said allergies in general. The ragweed was just her personal story - and the process would work with anything. Except it might be less fun with mold, because - no kidding - it involves carrying it around in your pocket and talking to it. ;)

LOVE. GOPI.

I don't...I don't even have a response for this.

For your canning jars...

[identity profile] hurricanedeck.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
...try Wal-Mart. They usually have a pretty big selection.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know. That's where I got these (http://www.freshpreserving.com/products/ball__collection_elite__platinum_wide_mouth_half_pint__8_oz__glass_preserving_jars/15.php?page_id=18) last time. I just hate shopping there! *sigh*

[identity profile] hurricanedeck.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! But it's the only store I've found that reliably carries canning supplies.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
GaaahhhNnngngnann! And here is reason number 4,298 I don't shop there. I just called the store to ask if they had these particular jars in stock. Nobody answered after twenty rings. I waited ten minutes and called again. No answer. I called the next number down (Bakery) and she tried paging three different departments--nobody's answering their phones.

I'm not wasting the gas driving to the store when I can't even confirm they have the thing in stock.

I hate that Wal-Mart is so big that they 1) don't care about customer service, and 2) don't pay their employees enough to care, either.

Not that you'll see this before Monday, but I just had to make a foray to the Evil Empire (TI-83 graphing calculator for the teenager. Wallet says *ouch!*) and happened to see that they have those half-pint jars in stock. 4 for $3.70.

I'd suggest B complex and ginger for the motion sickness, but...you're fasting, right?
Eck.
Don't know how you do it.....

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I already take a B complex vitamin, in addition to my standard daily multi-vitamin. The doctor gave me some prescription stuff for the dizziness, but it makes you sleepy, so I'm hesitant to try it.

The fasting really isn't bad. It's bad today 'cos I'm so tired, but usually it isn't a big deal.

FYI - Ray's on 6th has the booze also - in the cordials section, he's also going to start carrying a few brands not just the one.

Good source for canning jars - checkers and truevalue hardware

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for the heads-up on Ray's. I like shopping there. Nice guys.

Alas, Checkers and the hardware stores all had canning jars. Just not those canning jars.

Yeap we like Ray's also - Ron (the owner) teaches the wine tasting thru Parks & rec that we take. So we asked him last night.
