Dance dance all kinds of dance
The Rock and Roll Jamboree at Knucklehead's on Saturday was fantastic. So so worth skipping out on the full-time KCRF contract. It was wonderful to spend some time with the old rockabilly crowd again. Big Sandy and Los Straitjackets headlined, but in my opinion, Deke (as always) put on the best show.
tattooedartgirl, the only reason I brought my cell phone to the show was to call you during Deke's set, and I totally spaced doing it until I went back to my seat after he left the stage. *facepalm* Boo for me.
I absolutely must learn to lead better, because it's obvious nobody's ever going to ask me to swing dance. If I want to dance, I'm going to have to do the asking. So. Another project.
roya_spirit, wanna be my practice follow?
We didn't get home until close to 2:00 a.m., and when I woke up at 9:00, I really wanted to go back to sleep. But I had to finish the costume for smoker, so I made and drank a full 1-cup pot of espresso while I tried (and failed) to find a gauntlet solution for the O-ring costume. At 11:00, I woke up
mckitterick and we made it to site around 1:00.
I very much enjoyed strolling around faire, getting to sit and watch entire stage shows, and not having to bow to anybody thank-you-very-much. It was also funny to see who did and didn't recognize me. I had a particularly amused moment when Romeo & Juliet passed me. I saw her point at me and whisper "that's one of the whores!" So charming! Of course, I think she is an absolute doll, so maybe I'm a little biased there.
Dancing with
anerys was an absolute joy! I think our styles contrast and compliment each other nicely. I very much appreciate her giving me the opportunity to dance with her on Sunday. I wish I could dance more at Smoker. It's a great time, and a completely different experience from the serving-wench role (which I also very much enjoy). Here's hoping that
anerys and I can dance together more often in other venues.
I also did a special after-cannon dance for a very appreciative audience.
mckitterick said it was the best I'd danced that day. Goes to show you how a performer feeds off audience enthusiasm. I was tired, sweaty, and already suffering a banged-up knee. But once I got started, all that melted away. That energy loop is so good when it happens. And it's even more amazing when it's shared with friends, not just strangers in a random audience.
Another dance thing I must improve (different type of dance) is thigh strength. I've lost strength in my quadriceps and so my falls are less supported than they used to be, which results in rather rough treatment of the skin on my knees. Ouchie.

I think you have the best profile EVER.
When you were getting ready for The Fall on Ladyhawk's deck, I panicked a little, thinking "Her knee! Her knee!" But it looked splendid. :D

Oh, I just have to work this into some dialogue from one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies:
Drew: if things go well, maybe I'll show her my O-ring costume. O! O! You know what I'm talking about: O!
Done. Awesome costume and dancing. Some days it pays reeeeaal well to be

Thank you! I rather like my nose, too.
it looked splendid
Hurray! I was much more careful and balanced than at Smoker, so it was a better fall. I love how it has become something that Is Capitalized now.

Thank you! I waffle on which I enjoy doing more: Making the costumes or dancing in them.

Well, that would be great! I'm more than happy to practice with different people, but you'll have to come to Lawrence!

I'd need to be in better shape for that. I'm so sore today!

However, many people were aflash with camera action, so photos will surely surface soon.

I left shortly after Ragsidad's impromptu performance at closing gate, and apparently missed you yet again. I have *got* to work on my timing. I asked to see if my guest pass could be redeemed by me at a later date since my guest didn't show, but was told no. [sad kitty ears] Please let me know if you'll be dancing in the area outside of Faire! I'll call in sick to work and come see!

Do you have an actual ticket? Or is it on the name-list thing? 'Cos if it's an actual ticket, there is no reason you can't use your own comp pass. People do it all the time.

I LOVE watching you dance.
I love dancing for an appreciative audience, and you're one of the best. Mwah!
