Monday--again? Already?

I've never heard of the 28-hour day, but apart from the Oedipal jokes, it sounds pretty damn awesome. Again, not something I can do with an 8-5 job, but wow. If I lived on my own personal schedule, this is definitely something I would try.

[livejournal.com profile] motherteresatoo posts on her Blogger account about the Buy a Laptop for a Child program. This sounds really amazing. I'm considering doing this for an xmas present for my dad this year. I haven't found anything that he wants (or needs), so perhaps I'll buy/donate a laptop in his name. I bet I could even talk my mom and nana to go in with me on this. Something to consider.

I missed Saturday (and a lot of people) at faire. There are rare times when I don't enjoy being a girl, and Saturday was one of those times. I don't know why my last few periods have been so painful. Most women have the occasional bad period, and I know some women who suffer horribly every month, but I've never been one of those women. Until lately. If it continues to be very very bad, I shall see a doctor about it. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

Sunday was wonderful, despite the heat. I think being so hot helped keep my cramps to a minimum. It was great to have [livejournal.com profile] amjhawk and [livejournal.com profile] _starlady_ in from out of town and looking to be having a great time at KCRF. It was also wonderful to run into [livejournal.com profile] fireguarder. Hurray for making to faire in time to see Tartanic this year! (Note to anyone who cares: Next weekend is their last weekend at KCRF.)

In glaringly important news: I cut off all my fingernails today, down to where they just come to the edge of the finger pad. I had a couple that were starting to break on the side, right at the quick. To save a nasty torn-off nail, I just snipped 'em all off. It feels very strange. I haven't cut off all my nails since...um. I don't know when. Spring? I know I shouldn't have cut them since I hear that's hard on the nail. But I didn't have the time to file off that much nail.

Finally, I am taking applications for brown boots. Since I was informed that they do not make my beloved Double-H jump boot in my size in brown (WTF?), I am On The Hunt. I'm currently in love with these lovelies from Sundance, but whoa expensive. Also, I'm not certain I want a boot that comes all the way to my knee. If anyone knows of a good sexy boot that's similar to either of those listed (buckles and zips a plus, low heel, brown, hawt), comment or drop me an email. I'm looking in the $120 or less price range. No cheap stuff (Newport News, Payless). Although usually those styles are faboo, my feet (and ankles/joints) don't do cheap shoes anymore. And no fake leather. Sweaty feet and legs = Not a happy Miss Red.

Oedipal jokes? My classical humanities training isn't connecting it to a 28 hour day...

Oh, yeah, duh.... I was thinking you had additional funnies to go with it. I'll just go over ----> here for a while.

Not Oedipal so much as just chock full of "your mama" stuff.

28-hour day

During my 3-month unemployment 6+ years ago, I found myself sleeping when I wanted. I started rotating to being awake later at night and sleeping in later in the morning/afternoon, yet I was only sleeping 8-9 hours. And I was actually going to bed and falling right asleep which I can never do on my current have to be at work schedule.

I've also never felt so well-rested. Ever.

If it wasn't for job interviews, I would have cycled myself naturally to something other than 24-hours.

There are so many times when I think we'd all benefit by going back to being hunter-gatherers.

Well played

I can't stop giggling.

You? I'd guess three or four minutes tops.

*giggling in the background like a 13 year old boy*

Aren't those awesome? I did find some that I think will fit my lifestyle and pocketbook a little better, though. Check today's LJ entry for a link.
