No major damage done

Last night was bellydancing with Zada and Friends at the Aladdin Cafe. I did mostly ok. I'm still not up to where I was four years ago when I stepped out of the bellydance scene, but I'll get there eventually.

I couldn't get my stupid cane to balance on my head, so Zada offered her sword. I did a slow, slinky number with the sword and only dropped it once. Stupid me, trying to balance a strange sword on my hip. At least it didn't have far to fall, *and* it fell on someone I knew. Oh, and then when I was clapping, one of my fake jade bracelets hit one of my metal bracelets, broke in two and flew off at a couple who were eating (cheap @!#% imports). Then the clasp on one of my necklaces broke. Oh, and I got a rug burn on the top of my right foot while doing a bedouin walk with the sword on my head.

But someone just walked in and said "I heard a rumor that your dancing was really awesome last night." So I guess it looked okay overall.

Dean took some pictures, but they're all pretty bad. Not his fault. Just lots of closed eyes and weird facial expressions. I should have had him take a close-up while I was just sitting at the table because my makeup looked great. Oh, and I wore my fake braids for the first time and I didn't hit anyone with them on a spin, so that was good.

Feeling a little bouncy this morning. Kij gave me some coffee and somewhat unfortunately, it's great stuff--unfortunately because I *cannot* limit myself to one cup in the morning. Mmm. Tasty. Plus it's a darker roast than what I usually buy, so extra caffeine for your reading pleasure, friends. Man that stuff's good.

Here's hoping for some sun and warmer weather this weekend.

- she danced GREAT! We all know how critical we can be of ourselves, dwelling on things no one (except ourselves) noticed.

What a treat -- please continue to dance in public and let us know when so we can watch. It's one of the great things about Lawrence.

Thanks,
Chris
