The holidays have started
Thanksgiving at my folks was nice. Daddy was sick, which made for some slightly annoying moments (he is normally a wonderful person, but when he's sick he is a true pain in the ass). But our flights were uncomplicated and yes I got the knitting needles on board just fine. The food (provided by my uncle, who lives within an our of my folks) was really spectacular. I could have bathed in the cranberry relish. I was very good, though, and only had a tiny nibble.
It was nice to spend time with the parents and Nana. I love relaxing at my parents' house. Nobody expects you to do anything out of your normal routine just because you're visiting. We all just sat around and read or did word puzzles or, in my case, worked on my scarf. We did go out to see loveactually and it was absolutely wonderful. I loved it. Just enough sadness and happiness and pretty people to look at. Very fun. Sorry to the locals that I saw it without you, but hey, I wasn't going to turn down a free movie courtesy of the parents. Daddy didn't like it too much because there was a bit of nudity and the word "fuck" was used a couple times. Oh well. Everyone else really enjoyed it.
We got home on Saturday morning and slept most of the day away. We did get the colored blinky lights up in the living room and on Sunday we put up some icicle lights on the porch. Oh, and the ceramic xmas tree is up, although diminished this year by a rather large chip on one of the branches. =( This was sad for me since it was a gift from my gramma who died in 1996. The living room looks very pretty and festive now, though. I'm glad we put up decorations this year. I won't be doing a lot of the usual holiday baking and gift purchasing this year since all funds and free time are being funneled towards the kitchen re-vamp. Sigh. So the decorations are a nice mood boost, at least.
Saturday night was a fun Sellout show. Thanks to radcliffe for yet again comin' through for me with the hot shoes. I loved being the tallest woman on the dance floor. Six inch heels on a four inch platform, baby. Pics coming soon. I forgot to download them before leaving for class this morning.
I don't know if I'm coming down with more snifflies, if the allergies are flaring up, or if I just have a bad attitude about being here today, but I want to go home. My nose is in constant drip mode, I have a headache, and my entire torso is achey and stiff. I'm also a little surly and not myself. Bleh.
