I hope you've got your Cute Armor on

Because if you don't, this is totally going to kill you *ded*. I'm warning you. Seriously.

I kicked my ass this morning, which was good. Really good. I surprised myself at how much I could push after such a long span of laziness. I don't think I've demanded that much of myself in a workout since I stopped lifting in 1997(relatively speaking--my body today is completely pansy-assed compared to what I used to be able to do). I'm probably going to pay for it tomorrow, but whatever. It felt good.

Even though I'm a contact person for the Kite Runner tickets (showing tonight), I've decided to not go. I looked at my planner and this is my last opportunity for a free evening until November 25. I'm taking it.

...Holy cow, my lower trapezius are not happy with me.

One hit of killer cute deserves another (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBO2U7SZ5qs).

That is one chubby little kitten!

When that got posted to CuteOverload a while back, there was this huge uproar about breeding defects into pet. Some people wanted the site owner to remove the video because they thought Munchkin cats were a horrible thing to do to cats.

I can see their point, kinda, but I don't see how it's any different than breeding Daschunds.

And that cat is fucking adorable.

[identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not a huge fan of breeding any animals to the point where they couldn't function in the Real World on their own - in the role for which they were created. It only leads to worse diseases and premature death.

But on the other hand, yeah, it's really fucking cute.

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The only difference is that daschunds were bred with short legs to fit into burrows.

However, many breeds of dog are specifically bred for all sorts of physical characteristics that have nothing to do with function, which most certainly are detrimental to them physically (pushfaced dogs, for example).

However, I don't know that this particular kitten was bred to have short legs, as there is another kitten with it that seems to be normally sized. I just thought it was the runt of the litter.

Workout sounds great... what did you do for your asskicking?

It sounds kind of wimpy written out...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Basic movement improv belly dance for ~5 minutes (warm-up)
Drill new movements (oblique-driven shimmy and extreme rib isolation) for ~10 minutes
Combination of push-up variant with sit-ups (25 push-ups, 25 sit-ups, repeated three times for a total of 75 each)
15 repetitions of locust pose, held for a count of 5
100 Straddle-stance squats
15 minute cool-down that incorporated straddle-sit glute squeezes and a lot of active stretching

Not wimpy at all!
that workout would make me walk funny for a day or so.-

That sounds great!

Oh, my PT guy nixed the push-ups for now. We're working on getting the muscles to relax and not think they're being re-traumatized. Which is very hard for me. Basically I'm to stretch, but only to 50% of what I think I can do, and for limited amounts of time. He called it "guiding the muscles to where they're supposed to be rather than pushing them into stretch."

.. and he had to stop me three times because I was pushing myself too far.
This is going to be a long process by my standards of stretch.

That sucks massive amounts of suckage. =(

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)

Yep. You *know* how hard it is for this former dancer to not stretch to maximum. It feels too weird. He tells me "only move until you start to feel the stretch", .. so I do, and then he tells me "no that's too much"
ARGH!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The whole thing took about 50 minutes.

[identity profile] kalimeg.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that cat and hamster video made me laugh. I'm not sure which got me more -- the hamster riding the cat or the hamster jumping into the food bowl.

I feed my dwarf hamsters using large bottle caps for food bowls because otherwise they climb in regular bowls and use them for litter boxes.

[identity profile] grnvixen.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
ROTFL! Altho it would have been a cat-toy for my boys. Notice I didn't say food. They have been known to catch mice, but then turn them loose to chase them again, and again, and again....

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Good lord, that's an amazing pair. What a fearless hammie! What a clearly un-hungry kitty!

The food-bowl scene kills me. As do the scenes with the hammie and the cat, in general.

*ded*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
The cat grooms the hamster. That's just craziness.

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2007-11-15 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that's called, "appetizer." I give that hammie an hour if the cat's owner forgets to feed her.

I so expected the cat to eat the hampster when it got in the food dish.

I have my goal for weight lifting - every year at Contra I throw [livejournal.com profile] solan_t over my shoulder and do a squat and give her a birthday spanking. It's a tradition I've been doing for I think 4 years now.
