Now there's something you don't see everyday

Every time I listen to my soundtrack for Heavy Metal, I say "I should buy some 70s hard rock albums." And [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick responds "You say that every time you play this CD."

So I was listening to, yes, the Heavy Metal soundtrack at work this afternoon and decided to skim amazon.com to see if I could find any used CDs of 70s hard rock for cheap. Being That Type Of Person, I started with AC/DC, even though they're not on the soundtrack, but, you know. It starts with A.

*cough*

Anyway, I'm browsing through the 80 bazillion amazon listings for AC/DC, wondering why they don't have a Best Of that isn't the fucking four-hundred-dollar box set...when I found this.

Oh. My. God.

Hells yes, I bought it. With any luck, it'll be here next week.

Can't.

Wait.

That soundtrack is one of my all-time favorite CDs.

And btw, thanks to last Friday's music selections, I bought that Flaming Lips CD. I really like it!

My votes:

The Mob Rules and Reach Out.

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I should lend you some of my CDs in that genre.

Or recommend me some Best Ofs. I'm a big fan of Best Ofs. I don't care if that makes me a dilettante. It's easier, and takes up significantly less shelf space.

Maybe you ought to talk to one of your friends who actually grew up in the 70s.

*sly grin*

Methinks I may have a thing or two I can make for you.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-11-21 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you know me and my issues with music I haven't purchased...

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2007-11-22 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)

Well, how do you feel about mix CDs?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-11-26 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I really like mix CDs. They give me an idea of what I might like to actually buy. =) I've bought three or four CDs from the Friday Music posts that [livejournal.com profile] gmskarka puts up every week.

MeGoddsn Goddesses!

The drum track on that first sample is awesome. *impressed*

The introductory CD sounds pretty damn fun-making too.

The Heavy Metal soundtrack has lots of great stuff on it! And AC/DC is, for my money, happy music. Love 'em.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-11-21 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually thought of you and [livejournal.com profile] pamelonian when I bought it!!!

Big big love for "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars" by BOC! (or is that BÖC? -- umlaut love).

The title track rawks, simply because it brings back those dramatic opening images from "B-17" segment, IMO the best part of the movie.

In fact, off to Netflix. I've neither seen nor heard virtually any of the film or my old cassette OST since, erm, ooo... 1982? Ack, between this and some Doctor Who stuff this week, I'm being bombarded by memories of being 15 again!

Oh, man! You poor thing! I own the DVD and CD soundtrack. The CD gets put in at least twice a month and I drag out the DVD every other year or so.

Good times!

OH MY GOD THAT CD!!!

Just bought it!

Wheee! I hope you like it!

It's your one way ticket to midnight: call it Heavy Metal.

*more noise about the having of 70s rock-stuff: AC/DC, Sabbath (the whole w/Ozzy list & Heaven and Hell, Ozzy's first few albums, Judas Priest best-of, Motorhead best-of, early Alice Cooper, some Budgie (those are mp3s).

And I thought that "Hayseed Dixie" was fairly cute. Buddha for the win!

Hey, you're the perfect person to ask: So. Best Of Compilations. Who has good, comprehensive 2-CD sets, and whose Best Of CDs really suck?

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2007-11-21 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's fantastic! And high bit rate, non-DRM mp3 version!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-11-21 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Perfect for all you crazy youngsters out there who don't need the physical thrill of holding the album in your hot little hands. =D

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2007-11-21 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
These days, I get bigger thrills from not having so much stuff in my house. And I can download it and get it right away!

Buddha Lounge Renditions of AC/DC

PERFECT, baby.

Enjoy you your hard rock. I personally always love me some Led Zeppelin.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-11-21 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You can listen to it when you're here this summer!

[identity profile] chronovore.livejournal.com 2007-11-25 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's in my Amazon cart now.

Er, not "The Box."
