Xmas Eve

The Cranberry Upside Down Coffee Cake is cooling, and the clove-spiked ham is in the oven. The boys are (miraculously) still asleep--despite my occasional accidental noisiness in the kitchen.
I found my scone recipe--somehow it had fallen in the drawer where I keep the electronic meat thermometer. So hurray! And, indeed, I was short one egg. I'm really surprised they came out as well as they did with that much missing.
Here is a huge public shout out tostuology for being the bestest ever for bringing me some Bailey's yesterday on her errands. She also remembered my post about Yazi, the ginger vodka, from ages ago, and presented that as well. I am definitely going to be on the lookout for some monkey flannel for you, girl. Expect a new pair of PJ pants as soon as I find some. Oh, and I'll need your waist and inseam measurements when you get a chance.
I had hoped to get out of the house today, but seeing as I bought twice the ham I used to, I fear I'm going to be tending it for the next six hours. Dillon's had a sale on whole hams--$.99 a pound. I could have bought a shank portion (which is what I usually get), but it would have cost the same for about half the amount of ham. So now we've got twenty freaking pounds of ham on the way. Which is, interestingly, the amount of weight I'd like to lose by summer.
For those of you who celebrate it (I'm celebrating that the governor gave state employees the day off), have a fantastic Christmas. Be safe and eat well.
