Irksome
I went to go swim my laps this morning and there was someone in my lane (lane 4). After going back to the main desk to make sure I was told the correct lane, I had to go back and ask the girl to please get out of my lane. She moved to the next lane (lane 5), and her friend moved one over (to lane 6). Five minutes later, the person who had lane 6 reserved had to ask them to move. They both moved to lane 5. D came in at about 6:07 and had to ask them to move out of his lane. They moved to lane 3. Around 6:20, someone came in and asked them to please get out of his lane 3. The woman in lane 2 said she was leaving and the man could have her lane, so the two lane squatters got to keep their lane.
I like working out in the morning because for the most part people are there to work out, not socialize, and avoid the crowds that attend in the afternoons/evenings. Generally people don't talk too much to each other and everyone leaves each other alone. But these two girls made four people (that I saw--they were still there when I left) confront them in order to get their reserved lane. Nobody wants to deal with that first thing in the morning.
Now the two girls had reserved lanes 4 & 5 from 5:30 to 6:00, so I'm not upset that one of them was in my lane when I got there at 5:55. But my whole workout was somewhat cramped (ha ha) by my rising irritation at them. How presumptious! How rude! I haven't decided if I should call the front desk to say something about it. I guess I'll see if it happens again on Thursday.
Grump.
