Thunder? Was that THUNDER?
Cripes.
Today,
mckitterick and I were going to work on the sewing room room furniture. A project that, you know, kind of involved working outdoors. So I think that plan is pretty much nixed.
Thunder. And rain.
This is so not helping my general outlook on life.
After trolling all the sale racks on the south side of town, I've come to the conclusion that I'm just going to have to make all my own sweaters from now on. Modern sweater fashion pretty much sucks. I'm well stocked on twin sets (thank gods) but the big warm bulky yarn sweater scene is pretty weak these days. Nothing interesting or funky at all. And I really don't like cables. Fine on other people, but not for me, thanks. Bah. I've found one sweater (at a downtown store) in the past three years that I thought was worth purchasing. Maybe I'll drown my failed-plan sorrows in a bout of downtown shopping this afternoon--perhaps the fashion gods will smile on me for supporting local businesses.
Thunder, again? WTF. Loud thunder, too.
I purchased some amazing boucle yarn from
bestill yesterday and started a charming little vest--the pattern is from 1962 and it looks like a good beginner garment pattern. I'm still working on the legwarmers. Those are for mindless knitting, though. The nature of the boucle prevents me from doing any other visually-demanding activities while working with it. The loops on the thread do a fine job of masquerading as stitches and if I'm not careful I'll double the stitch count in no time. Tricksy yarn. But beautiful.
More thunder. And the sky is getting darker instead of lighter as the morning progresses.
Final decision on my hair: Snip snip. I'm going to keep the longer bangs, but the back is so getting trimmed back to short this week. And hello, friends styling product and blow dryer. I've missed you so!

Congrats on the hair decision. I really mean that. I have been comtemplative (sp?) of late on that very subject myself...hmmm...I look goddamn hot with short hair, too. Double hmmmmmmmmmmm...
Wish I could beam myself to Larryville for an afternoon of shopping and craftyness with The Spanish. The German misses her already. She agrees that spending time together is Der Bomben. *snort* :)

Yes! I miss you terribly. I would love a day of craftiness with you. I'll email you this week and even if we can't pull together a party, a day of knitting and booze would be faboo.

Ugh, I'm sorry the plans for remodeling got stuffed. I hate that too.
and for the record on the hair.. I think you're like me on that. If it helps, the J just told me this morning he likes my hair shorter in the back, it's sexy and looks better. And you have such a beautiful neck! Too sexy to hide it with hair.
My favorite sweaters are all "out of style" as well. I bought a bunch of sale chenilles from Newport News. I know it's a cop-out, but I gotta be comfy, you know?

I never did make it downtown for sweater-shopping. Rats. Maybe this weekend...

Greetings...
I was wondering if might share the recipe? :)
Re: Greetings...
The old recipe went like this:
1 pkg of Nestle Quick Chocolate Milk Mix
1 pkg of powdered milk that makes 11 qts of milk
1 11 oz. pkg of non-dairy creamer
1 lb powdered sugar
The problem is, now Nestle Quick and the creamer come in different sizes. Feel free to fiddle with this info, though!
* I should clarify: the recipe on my laptop was the measurements for making it in bulk, based on the original sizes of the ingredients--sizes that are no longer available.
Thank You So Much :)

Just kidding. You look great in short hair, so why mess with a good thing?
