Around here our chair never does but that's just him. Sometimes a few of the faculty remember, usually the office manager but not so far this year. I never really expect anything tho, hadn't realized it was today until your post. Glad the students remembered, train them early :).

Our department usually takes us out for a nice lunch, but not until after classes are out. Being out of the office at any point during the end of April/beginning of May is just impossible around here.

to have a birthday- lots of extra prezzies. I always joke that the firm's big Ice Cream Social (which has fallen on my birthday 3 times since I started working here) is just a big party they throw for me. ;-)
