You all know I am not a dog person. If you don't know that, well, now you do. But I admit it's me, not them. I've got nothing against dogs. Any dogs.

So those people who say certain breeds of dogs are naturally vicious and, once trained to fight, will never get over it, please direct yourselves to this SlackDaily column.

I have always believed that dogs will respond to how humans treat them. I remember believing that even as a child when people used to say Dobermans were vicious by nature.

Thanks for posting that! My sister and her husband have a pit bull, a 16-month old toddler, and a new baby on the way, and guess what? They all get along very well. In spite of the dog's name - Barracuda - he's actually a big, muscle-bound love muffin who wants very much to be a lap dog and loves kids. Admittedly, he like to hunt and chase other animals outside (this particular dog is more brawn than brains), but he is not "aggressive." He's a regular dog. He's never been trained to fight, of course, but just from my experience with him, I can imagine that plenty of the Vick dogs can be rehabilitated, and I'm so glad that folks are trying! And fyi, I think statistically the most dog bites given to children are actually from golden retrievers...
