Psst. Do something.
From
nottygypsy came this link to a video about McCain. Yes, politicians lie, they all lie, every single one of them, even the cute cuddly ones. But I'd rather have some different lies than the ones we've been fed for the past eight years.

Krishna Das last week was...fine. I'm glad I went, but I probably won't see him again, unless it's here in town, and inexpensive. It was amazing to hear that glorious voice in person, but he's a better performer than he is an interactive chant leader. He had a tendency to improvise on the words of the chants and sing things that weren't on the cheat sheet. Which was not cool for us in the audience trying to follow along. Plus, he didn't explain the concept of kirtan as a call-and-response activity. He just said "You guys know how to do this, right?" and of course nobody's going to say "No!" in a big auditorium of people. So there were a lot of people (most notably sitting right by me) who sang along with him instead of waiting for the response part of the chant. I eventually whispered to them how it was supposed to work, but I think they figured me for a know-nothing-snot when eventually things got a little muddled during one particular chant and everyone sang through the whole song the whole time by the end. I would have enjoyed it more if it had been just a normal concert experience with him singing with a trained back-up chorus.
I like Keshavacharya Das's kirtans better, although I think Krishna Das's attitude towards spirituality is a little more in line with my own.
The vacation (well, the time away from the office) was a mix of great and frustrating. I did get the third costume done and I started on a cool-weather cover-up that's moderately belly-dance appropriate. Oh, and I made myself a shoulder bag for schlepping stuff in lieu of my belt pouch. I'm going to go to Michael's to get stuff for head ornaments (thanks to
anerys for inspiration and feathers) and then I think I need to call it done. I would like to get just one more costume done (something to wear on cooler days), but it's unlikely to happen.
I gained five pounds from all the restaurant visits with out of town guests (one restaurant meal per day on five days). I avoided rice, beans, and other starches, sticking with vegetables and protein. No wheat or bread at all. Ever. Still up five pounds. That tells you what restaurant food does to you, people. Or at least what it does to me. Craziness.
The burn is getting darker. I am displeased. I had to cut off all my fingernails due to unfortunate splits/breaks close to the quick on two fingers. I feel bloated and gross and I have three scars on my chin from some giant, nasty pimples. Bah. But this morning I increased the duration of half my "on" times of my HIIT program. Nice to have one positive on the physical level.

I wonder if some of the restaurant food had wheat, etc. "hidden" in it--as one of the ingredients but it wasn't an obvious thing to know (or ask).
And for the burns--they take forever to heal! I don;t have any tips though for it.
It sounds like you are cranking away on the costumes though--that's good.
