Very meh
Hurray for Thursday night martini-drunks. Especially when you run into your new Graduate Director. And a friend who has cancer. I can now say from experience that it's easier to hear the news that a friend is terminal when you've got a few drinks in you.
I'm tired of hearing about the Olympics at work. It's the same as basketball season. Staff and faculty congregate in the hallway and discuss--loudly--the outcomes and their opinions of the games. Unfortunately for me, my interest in these conversations diminishes at about the same rate the volume of the conversations increase. Which is to say Very Rapidly.
I have absolutely no desire to be here today and very little to do. Since there's such a small incoming class this year, everybody got advised on Wednesday and the last enrollment issue was (I believe) cleared up this morning. So everybody's good to go until classes start.
*twiddles thumbs*
So. LiveJournal!

So very sorry to hear about your friend.
I can totally relate as to the Olympics thing. I have been steadfastly not paying attention (other than when I couldn't get away from the big screen at Vermont Street BBQ on Thursday), so I've had absolutely zero to add to the conversation besides "Free Tibet".
Am right there with you on the not wanting to be at work. By last night when I'd left I'd billed 36.5 hours (my normal average is 25-30 hours in a 5 day, 40 hour work week), and when I got here today the other paralegal is home with a sick kid, so its just me for the 20 attorneys I work for.
Happy Friday!

Thanks for the sympathy about R. I didn't realize she was going on her fifth recurrence. =(

Then for your friend, I wish a minimum of pain, and a peaceful path to the door of this existence, and solace for those she leaves in her wake, including you.

I know it rains on the just and the unjust alike, but stuff like this seems so wrong. She's an amazing and wonderful person. She and her husband celebrated their 37th anniversary this year, and they're one of the happiest couples I've ever known. =(

I'm glad they've had the love that so many never experience, and for that long too.

I really like that icon.
Sorry to hear the news about your friend. Bad news might be a good reason to keep a buzz going all the time.

Thanks for the sympathy...and the idea! Being drunk to avoid bad news, while a stellar avoidance plan, might not be practical. I mean, after the second year of a McCain presidency, I wouldn't be able to afford booze.

For my mom's birthday, we went to Yokohama Downtown (which is completely fabulous), and sat at the sushi bar and watched part of the opening ceremonies. We had a wonderful time, and that's as much of the Olympics as I've seen or heard about.

Mmmmmmm....sushi. Yokohama is topping my list of places to eat once I'm eating starches again.
