Smarty cat

I woke up in the early hours of Monday with a headache and a hunch that I'd be calling in sick. I woke up again just before 6:00 certain of the fact. I went ahead and called in. I woke up at 9:00 and called my chiropractor for an emergency allergy treatment. I got back from that appointment at 10:30 and took a nap. After lunch I took another nap. After a load of laundry and some errands, I was back in bed by 9:20.

B-l-e-h.

The wind and rain last week and through the weekend carried in enough allergens to throw my system for a loop. I'm feeling better today, but tired. Still a little headachey, though, and delicate from yesterday's menstrual cramping (that didn't help the headache, I'm sure).

One of my errands was a jaunt out to Michael's to get glass marbles for the water fountain I bought for Fetish. I got it all cleaned and treated with the metal protectant to make the fountain food-safe. Poured in the marbles, filled it with water, plugged it in...and she just looked at it. I got a pillow from the couch and sat next to it, reading a book for about twenty minutes. She just looked at it. I really hope she figures out that running water is running water. It doesn't have to come out of the shower faucet. Is she smart enough to catch on? We'll see.

Hey, maybe she's just enjoying watching it? and not actually thirty yet...

feelbetter.

duurrrr......that should read "thirsty yet"

=D

I figured it out...but then I'm on my third cup. I try to limit the caffeine during certain times of the month, but this month? Oh hell no. Between exhaustion and staving off another headache, I'm all about the coffee today.

Heh. When we got ours, we took away all other access to water. They didn't have a choice. (But then, Jack liked it immediately anyway.)

Good luck! Does it look as marvelous as you hoped?

It looks beautiful.

I stopped running the shower faucet for her, so here's hoping she picks up on it before her kidneys fail.

I so feel your pain. I had severe migraines every day last week. After my chiropractic adjustment Sat I feel better but am still carrying low grade headache and my nose is apparently bleeding at night, judging by the sore throat I'm also fighting.

Let's have a freeze and soon!

Ew. Nose bleeds are a lot of not fun. Have you tried nasal irrigation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neti_pot)?

[identity profile] renniemom.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Very not fun. [livejournal.com profile] pastmagic and I both get them this time of year.

I use a saline spray that helps some. I will try a more in-depth irrigation process and see what that does. Thanks for the pointer.

I've used a Neti Pot like system for several years now and I never get nose bleeds at all anymore. I used to get a couple a week (at night, like you). It's not fun at first, but once your sinuses get used to it, it's actually very soothing.

Hmmm maybe a trail of kitty treats up to it.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, she knows it's there. She even sniffed it. I just don't think she's made the connection yet that it's water. Sometimes she's not very bright.

Kittehs are funny like that. 2 of our will ONLY drink from the fountain. Bastian has to drink from the top and Pooky always drinks from the pool with her chest in the water. She always sneezes when she drinks cause her whole body's in the water.

Meggie used to drink only from a running bathroom faucet but she figured out water dishes real quick as soon as we stopped leaving the water on for her all the time. And she's no smarty-pants either.

Kittehs are finicky but they figure shit out quick.

LOL! I have this crazy hope that I'll come home tonight and she'll be drinking from the fountain. *crosses fingers*

And...poor little wet Pooky!

Add a dribble of catnip tea?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want to introduce anything other than water (and cat saliva) into the pump system. Not intentionally, anyway.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Speaking of that, is there a way to filter the inevitable cat snotty/furry stuff before it goes into the pump? That's what made me give up the fountain thing cos Ymir just gets everything into it and Scarlett liked to dip her paws into the bowl all the time. Of course, Ymir is such a baby, he'd sit beside it and yowl until I cleaned it. He does the same with the bowls.

No idea. Sorry!
