Hive queen

I am a big fan of the band Stimulator--at least I am a fan of their first album. I found out their second album is done, and several tracks are available for listening at their MySpace page. Unfortunately, they're all pretty craptastic, IMO. While their first album was strongly influenced by 80s New Wave and synthesizer rock with some sexy anger thrown in, Stimulator 2 is firmly rooted in...disco. That sort of easy-listening-esque disco. I'm disappointed. The songs on this album might be really super to the ears of people who like that genre, but I'm definitely not one of those people. At all. I'm all for stretching one's musical horizons and trying new things, but...well, here's hoping if they make a third album, it'll be influenced by something that doesn't make me break out in hives.

Speaking of allergic reactions, I've been pining for pizza. If I ate some, though, it probably wouldn't be as good as I remember, and I'd wind up with a terrible stomach ache. So I'm just ignoring the feeling until the feeling goes away. As I look at my standard breakfast (fruit with yogurt and a few sliced almond sprinkled on top), I can't help thinking that Milton's French Toast sounds really awesome, too. *sigh* I'll be glad when I lose whatever wheat-craving hormone issue I've got going on at the moment.

I also need to cease-and-desist with my recent money-spending hormone issue. Yeesh. I've bought more stuff out at Faire this year than I have in probably all my other years combined. There's one piece of jewelry at French Creek that I've eyeballed every time I walk by. If it's still there on the last weekend, I might succumb. I'm not allergic to jewelry, after all.

So I forgot to check out my cook book but check out www.hungry_girl.com for Ideas on swaps for pizza crusts and such. I'll look up that one I saw for you too.

"I'm not allergic to jewelry, after all." This is a bright side indeed!

Know that i know NOTHING about your current allegies, so if these suggestions are way off the mark, it was by accident...~S~

Is cornmeal an option? If so, I recommend warm baked cornbread with pancake syrup as a potential french toast caving stop-gap. I have on occasion used it when it was a day or two old with an eggwash and cooked slices just like I would french bread for french toast.

As far as pizza, depending on your craving leanings, I may have suggestions there as well.
If the craving is for the flavors and toppings, pizza burritos are TASTY. (This is especially true if after you make the burritos with veggie tortillas, you put them in a casserole dish, cover with GOOD tomato sauce and nommy cheese.)

If the crave is for chewy dough, I do not have any good ideas that would not directly wander into wheat products. I will give some thought, however...

Thanks for the suggestions! It's easier for me to just not eat the food and gradually I know I'll lose my taste for them. I have very little patience for finding substitutes--they never quite satisfy.

I can do that for some things, but for others, I need to investigate alternatives because feeling deprived can make me make VERY foolish eating decisions.

Holiday foods...
Potent "memory" foods...
Social cooking...

Sometimes mini portions work. Sometimes I need it to be a little off just so I DO NOT re-establish cravings but get close enough to address the situational festivities.

BTW, you were wonderful at the Smoker! My very dear friend Pisceskitty was so impressed she couldn't stop talking about your talent. I know you hear that a lot, but I thought you needed to know you created another fan...~smiles~

Aw! Thank you! And thank Pisceskitty.

You make me want Milton's French toast SO BAD. And it's after they've closed for the day and I have no way to get there anyway. :(((

Sorry! Better luck some other time?

Robin McKinley, who does not do wheat flour, recommends spelt. You could use it to make pizza dough....
