A little bleary

I helped [livejournal.com profile] adamcrafter and [livejournal.com profile] royal_spice paint a room in their (stunning, gorgeous, spacious, envy-inducing) house yesterday and today. What perfect hosts and even [livejournal.com profile] royal_spice's doggie was charming. Lovely!

Got home this afternoon, ate, showered, e-mailed and passed out. I slept for an hour and a half and only got out of bed because I knew if I stayed there I wouldn't sleep well tonight.

G-r-o-g-g-y

I do believe that the week-after-week busy-ness is catching up with me. It's gonna be good to relax tomorrow. I'm getting too old for this shit. Even after a cup of coffee, I feel a tad disoriented. Ooof.

The only thing I have on the agenda for tomorrow is buying some athletic shoes. The stationary bike is starting to sound weird and it's got this uneven hitch in the cadence. [livejournal.com profile] cera recommended that I try jump rope as an alternate to cardio, so tomorrow I'm going to look for some appropriate cross-trainers that fit my long skinny feets (also a rope and some of those interlocking pad-things since we do not have a jump-friendly floor). [livejournal.com profile] khelleckson gave me superb information about what to look for in a shoe, as well as tips on jumping. If anyone has brand recommendations about a shoe they like--or more info on jump rope as cardio exercise--please drop me a comment. I'm looking forward to trying something new.

Have you considered a mini-tramp?

I don't want more stuff in the house. A jump rope and a pair of shoes will take up the least real-estate of anything. =)

LOL.. True, dat!

New Balance - they make shoes in a variety of widths and lengths. They've got New Balance at Cabela's, and there's a New Balance store in Overland Park.

Personally, I really like Ecco's, because they fit my normal size toes with narrow heels really well, but I don't know how your feet are shaped.

And my brother says that Arensberg's downtown is going out of business, so I have no idea if they'd have anything at a good price that would work, but it might be worth a shot.

Arensberg's downtown is going out of business

Sad. Very very sad. I'm really worried about downtown businesses surviving this economic slump.

I think with athletic shoes it comes down to which brand fits your feet the best. Some brands feel like they were made for my feet, while others I can never wear. Sometimes it makes me sad because I really like the styles and colors offered but they just don't fit. I have pretty good luck with Saucony.

DSW and Famous Footwear have a wide selection of brands. I hate going to Dick's because you have to wait for them to get the shoes from the back and the service is terrible.

I am sad about Arensberg's.
