This morning I had a fantastic lesson in Be Here Now. I was running a little late, and trying to get ready for work faster so I could walk up the hill slower because it's just-so-damn humid and ugh. I popped my morning Cipro pill in my mouth and instead of telling me to take a swallow of my drink, my brain took a short vacation and I chomped down on the pill. I have never, no never in my life, tasted anything so vile and bitter. Not even those damned Lupini beans were so awful. It took two tooth-brushings and some swishing with mouthwash before I could even stand to close my mouth. I can still taste it a bit on the side I used to bite down. That shit was nasty, people.

Almost two years after the first plans were announced, construction has finally begun on Spaceport America. It's in New Mexico, even. I've always wanted to live in the desert southwest...maybe they're hiring?

Last night we said our 'byes to starstraf and Pooch at a big farewell dinner. There were a gob-zillion of people there and my head is still ringing a bit from the loud conversations. It was like being in a bar! Craziness. It was nice to send them off with such a large show of support. Good luck in D.C., y'all!

Lots of happy socializing this weekend--friends and family (not my family, but close 'nuff). I'm looking forward to it, and the motivation to tidy the house. Things are starting to encroach on living space again. Time to Put Stuff Away!

I tried chewing aspirin, once. I was curious. You know how it goes. Acetylsalicylic acid's got nothing on Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride, let me tell you.

I did aspirin once. Because I'd read in a Stephen King novel that chewing aspirin made it work faster. I'll never trust Stephen King again.

Probably not a bad rule, in general. At least when it comes to advice given in his books. A lot of those people don't end up so good.

I bet Virgin Galactic could use someone with your skills. I checked out their web site. Suborbital flights are going for a mere $200,000. (Employee discount?)

I will have to start saving. I doubt I could scrape together that much before a couple of crashes put them out of business! But then, they are not working with low-bid contractors like NASA. They could do OK.

I'm so excited that they've started building now, despite the economy and everything. This suggests hope for the future.

You know, that's not too far south of where my folks have land.. I'm thinking near-retirement job.. I'm sure they'll need some HVAC tech guys, too. *grin* and Secretaries!!
