I'm sure everyone and their dog's gonna be posting the final dance scene today. But this was the scene that most affected me in 1987. I knew I wasn't the watermelon-carrying sort. I was already one of those girls grinding it out on the floor.

Love that scene. I started practicing how to dance that way with my friends like the next day. When I started at KU, the only guys I met who could (or would) dance with me like that were the gay guys. Thus began my long road of fag-hag-dom.

I also remember people asking me how I learned to do that "style" of dance and I remember thinking Are you kidding?

Oh that scene TOTALLY blows the cheesy ending with that horrid song away!!!! My heart was in my mouth the first time I saw it in the theater.

That actress was also in Flashdance, another one of my favorite 80s movies when I was a teenager.
