Punkin

I want to share the cheery face that has greeted me Good Morning on my way to work since Wednesday of this week.
pumpkin man

Click to go to the Flickr page and choose the Original Size. It's worth seeing the larger size for the details.

Hey, question: How would I go about copying songs from a CD to a CD without converting them to MP3 in the process? I want to make a mix CD where the songs haven't lost any of the quality from the original CD. Possible? Do I need special software?

That is yard art worthy of Calvin! :)

Looks like Calvin's snowmen.

Awesome pumpkins. Hehehe.

As far as I know, downloading something like PowerISO would be the easiest way. You could rip a .iso file (which is an image of the CD's contents) and then burn it to the new CD without losing any data.

Another option would be to rip into a lossless format (like .flac) instead of .mp3 and then re-burn. It's difficult to really know what to tell you when I don't know what software you already have - if all you've got is iTunes, for example, you're kind of screwed unless you download something new.

Hope this helps!

I don't have any software for this sort of thing. Unless you count Windows Media Player. Which...doesn't really count.

I'll see if PowerISO has a demo/trial version available for download. Thank you!

OMG - that is probably the best pumpkin I've ever seen.

You haven't noticed it yet?!?!?

Audacity is free and I hear very good for editing.. I wonder if it would do this?

Yard Art FTW!!!!

Been so busy this week that I've only been scooting past, so all I saw was in peripheral vision: A stack of pumpkins made into a pumpkin-man. Not the carnage that makes it rise above all others.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-10-09 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll give it a try! Thanks!

There are seeds smeared all over the sidewalk, too. Purposefully, I'm sure.

HA!

That is awesome. I love it how the killer pumpkin has a head of Jack the Pumpkin King impaled on his arm. Brilliant.

That totally reminds me of Kelly.

Love it.

ISO isn't going to work for your CD plot, if I understand what you want correctly. Closest you're going to get to original CD quality is to use whatever program you have that can 'rip' songs off a CD into .WAV format (this is important, assuming you have Windows of course). Most versions of Windows Media Player can do this now - check the top bar. Repeat for all constituent tracks you're going to want. Put them somewhere you can find them, like...Iunno, My Documents/My Music/RIP. :)

Then you can use WMP (or whatever software) to burn a new CD, just by dragging tracks into it. Order them the way you want, make sure your tracks aren't going to be longer than the CD you're burning to, and click Burn. Let it run for about 10 minutes and you should be good to go - make sure to test it in a REAL CD player, not just your computer, as occasionally they'll play one way but not the other.

Audacity's going to be overkill unless you need to blend tracks, create transitions, etc. See below.

Keen. Good to know I might be able to use Windows Media Player for this. Thanks!

I downloaded it because it does look pretty nifty, but I'm only on page three of the manual and whoa, yeah. That's a lot of stuff! Gonna try the easy Media Player route you suggested first.

I had gotten it for doing mixing for short gigs, and I'd heard it's awesome for that, but I hadn't even used it yet.
