Ahhhh
This morning I painted my nails bright orange. Garish, unnatural, and/or sparkly nail polish for the foreseeable future, I say. As much as I love it, I am dead tired of "It's A Doozy Says Suzi" and 'most everything associated with it. Farewell, KCRF! It was great, but now it's over and I am so very, very relieved.
Yesterday was a glorious send-off. We couldn't have had better weather! Well, we could've, I suppose, but considering how cool it's been all season, we lucked out in a big way. No snow!
I wouldn't have dreamed I'd say this, but I'm thankful that all the little Smoker hiccups we've encountered this season happened when they did. Because they served as a rehearsal/lesson for fire-stamping at Sunday's Smoker. I won't go into detail, but allow me to say: I arrived at the Feast Hall at 3:30. I didn't stop putting out fires until I opened the house at a bit after 4:15. Then I missed the first wave of tips/serving because of the (late) food. Gah! I think/hope, apart from the fabulous patrons who helped carry our furniture, not many people realized the level of fucked-up. At least we had our beer and cigar tickets, so nobody had to run to the store at 3:50 to buy some--this time. Yay! I do enjoy working Smoker, though. The Smoker Crew is the awesome-est. Go, us! Let's just not go for, oh, another ten months or so.
Oh, oh, I discovered a new favorite faire food. Better than my beloved corn dog (yes, I know, hard to believe). It's the gyros sammich. OMG. Maybe it helped that I was absolutely starving, but OMG. Extra meat for a buck? Sold. I'm so very sad that I didn't discover how good these are (or seem to be when one is starving) until the last day. Typical! But better late than never. Sooooo much better. Mmmmm.
I'm looking forward to being a hermit crab/slug for most of this week. Back to something like a normal life starting October 26.
