To which I asked, why didn't they study the effects of the same on women's health and life span? I mean, this sort of seems like a no-brainer. Ms. Karen Weatherby, the author of the study, can be solidly crossed off the "bi-curious" list.

On Friday, I was making files for Fall 2010 applicants and saw a name I recognized. I knew I already had a file on this guy, so I went to the old files and sure enough, there he was, an applicant for Fall 2008. I emailed him to say we could still use his transcripts from the previous application (and hopefully save him a bit of cash). I was feeling smug and not a little self-righteous when I realized it was maybe not something I should be so thrilled about--remembering someone's name from two years ago, when often I cannot even remember why I got off the couch to go to the kitchen. One moment I was so proud because I felt so incredibly kick ass at my job and then the next I was all "Seriously?!?"

Twenty-five days until vacation.

Memory does that. I think that short-term memory degrades before long-term memory. Oh, I can dredge out the strangest bits from the past, but don't ask where I put my cell phone *this* time.
