I don't want the buzz

I guess Google was feeling left out of the TMI On Demand revolution, and now I have this little thing called "Buzz" under my Gmail inbox.

I don't want these little tidbits of information. This is not my thing. Tweets and Facebook quips are fine and dandy for everybody else, but for myself? Do Not Want.

Please don't take offense when I don't follow you back. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to unfollow the people Google automatically assigned to me.

Update: Figured it out. Yay.

Edit: I don't care if you use the utility or not. I just figured this was an easier way to communicate with the 24 people already listed as "following me" that I would not be returning the favor. I think any social networking utility that people use and enjoy is fine. If you use Twitter, fine. Facebook, great.

I'm not making any judgments. Just saying don't look for me on Buzz. 'K?

I think I'm happy to say, I have no idea what you are talking about. So don't worry, I won't be offended!

But, I use G-mail to receive certain mail, but rarely use it to send. So maybe that's why I'm happily clueless.

I'm giving it 2-3 days, then will Kill It or Not if I see any utility.

I'm not jumping on the bandwagon either. And the first person to tries to tweet at me gets shot!

I loved the quote I heard last night where someone called them "twats" instead of tweets.
Perfection!

*HEE!*

If you unfollow them, does that remove them from any Google Reader feeds you may have assigned to them?

I tried to move Buzz to the Trash, but it won't stay.

Haven't the foggiest. But to remove Buzz, go way to the bottom of your Gmail screen. In the Gmail View: list, you'll see the option to turn off Buzz--it's grouped with View in Standard HTML, etc.

Ah. Thanks!
I'm going to experiment with the Unfollow thingy first.

I have 8 followers, I'm not much of a Guru, am I?

LOL just saw your update.. first thing I unfollowed you and others I know won't do this so that I could see past the clutter whether it's worthwhile or not.

As far as I understand, you can turn off Buzz completely and hide it so that you don't even see the link.

D.

A-ha! Thanks. I didn't think it was an option, but yes. There at the very bottom of the Gmail Screen, next to Gmail View:

I've got it on, but I'm a writer of all things Google, so I have to. I did, however, filter off all those stupid email notifications. I don't need 23423432 notices that there's a new convo going on in an old thread, thanks. Did the same for Facebook.

I don't even know what you are talking about. IMAP for the win!

Good to know! I'll unfollow you!
