Blood and guts
Oh my dear god I am *ded* from more etsy lust. Found on the Skull-A-Day blog.
Because I do not have enough hobbies, I'm thinking of taking up embroidery. I want a portable pastime and I think embroidery will suit my temperament better than knitting.
I'm donating blood this afternoon. It's about time KU had another campus blood drive. I couldn't believe they didn't have one after the Red Cross ran short on supplies for treating earthquake victims in Haiti. I've reconciled to the fact that Lawrence has no whole blood donation centers. If not enough people are donating, there's no point in keeping the office open (although I suspect their low donation rate was due to their wretched hours). Every time I donate at a blood drive on campus there's at least a twenty minute wait to get processed. The place is always packed! So why not have quarterly blood drives at KU? I don't understand.
My motivation for exercise has waned. I'm burned out on my current activities. Right now I'm of the attitude that if I never do a lunge or squat again, it will be too soon. On the other hand, I am really tired of this flabby belly. Meh. I want to set up something with mirrors so I can practice dance drills and be able to see what I'm doing. The one wall available for this is currently blocked by a giant shelving unit burdened with thousands of dollars of fabric. Perhaps a sewing room re-org is in the cards.

Mitti was looking at some plastic mirrors at one point - lightweight and portable....maybe something like that for dancing? I shall pester her for more information!

Oh man, that statue is fabulous! I want one in my garden, wonder if it can be weatherproofed.
Okay, if you want embroidery thread, I have a few bunches of it.
Oooooo
Woudlnt' blood donation be way funner if vampires sucked it from your veins? Just sayin.
Embroidery ...it amuses me to think of you doing hankerchiefs.
Exercise...if only it were fun.

Ha! More along the lines of an additional way to embellish costumes. But I do have some fabulous old-style embroidery patterns with pin-ups and geishas that I'd like to use.

When I get to the point where I've mastered the simple stuff, I'll be pestering you for lessons. =)
Very Cool
Confession. All southern ladies carry real embroidered hankies in their purse.

I mean, unless they've re-opened since last week...but even then, their hours were crap. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. REALLY?
Edit: Yeah, still closed. I tried calling their number and got a recording that gave me a Topeka phone number as a replacement.

Exercise for me is a big MEH. I just don't care right now. I will care a lot more when it is time to think about wearing shorts again.
Very appropriate title to this post, BTW. Hope your bloodletting went well!
