I just paid someone $5,200 to cut my eyes with a laser gun
That was interesting.
Everything went fine. The doctors and nurses all said I did a great job of keeping my eyes still. I'm responding well to the treatment so far. My post-op exam this morning showed that I'm already almost at 20/20, which is very good progress for so soon after surgery (I hear).
I can't look at stuff for too long, though, because everything starts to blur and my eyes ache. This is especially true of bright things, so looking at a computer screen isn't very fun.
But so far so good. I wasn't blinded by the surgery. I can see without any corrective lenses.
Details later.

ETA: Holy moley. My eye doctor informs me I've just been approved to participate in a clinical trial for LASIK up here. They're not testing anything about the procedure itself; just the relative efficacy of different formulations for the eye drops used before and after. Whaddya know.

It's just a little weird that I used to take my glasses off to read, and now it's the opposite.

Modern medicine is crazy. Imagine what things will be like in 50 years, provided we don't completely fuck things up and wind up living Mad Max style.
