i-Update
The student housing issues are totally under control (so far).
BKB gave me a three-week estimate before they'll be done repairing my Dansko's.
Brown's Shoe Fit had a lovely pair of Clark's on sale that fit great.
Campus mail can suck my left tit.
The lying-sack-of-shit airport shuttle company said they would refund our guest's credit card.
The tester reported my body fat was 22%.
Yesterday I did a couple things that weren't awesome.
Making it through the drilling and filling with no anesthesia was pretty awesome.
Some joker left a note on my desk that had a cartoon bee saying "Run for your life, allergy girl."
Coffee is awesome.
Water is important, but not as awesome as coffee.
Unless something falls apart this afternoon, I shouldn't have to work on Monday and I'll get a three-day weekend.
Nothing has gone kablooey at the dorms yet, and people started arriving yesterday evening.
My life is not going to improve unless I stop doing un-awesome things.

Word
I thought about that this morning when I decided to spend all day cleaning. I hate it. Maybe I shouldn't do it. I'm missing important time with Jay.
Then I thought, It feels un-awesome to live in a filthy house. So, while cleaning is not awesome compared to the other things I could be doing, a clean house is awesome, so I'll clean and enjoy the awesome this weekend.

I should make a second poster, of this, to hang next to the other poster (http://chernobylred.livejournal.com/642713.html?thread=6754457#t6754457).

No, I hadn't. But...wow! The gasket on my current espresso maker (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=espresso+maker+stove+top&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&cid=1194402906573541389&ei=VyAuTMq3NoOINpqQ6KMB&sa=title&ved=0CBkQ8wIwAzgA#p) is about dead and I can't find any replacements. I'm going to give this Aeropress some thought! I like that it's made in the U.S., too.
Hey! A Lawrence roasterie/coffee shop sells them!
Edit: And they have some in stock!
Thank you so much for the info on this. It qualifies as awesome!

Next paycheck, though. Definitely.

Related proverb: If you try to catch two rabbits you will get none.
or to put it another way: Is asceticism awesome?
Or perhaps it is possible to take a metaphor too far...

I'm going to see how much of a percentage point I can drop this month, and will set a year-end goal based on that.

I can answer that: No. Unless you're using it for purely the Greek meaning of the word, in which case...that would be a qualified yes.
But I like your suggestion to couch the phrase in more positive terms, though: My life improves as I continue to do more awesome things.

here are some photos and stats of some elite athletes just to give you bellwether.

As I paged through those photographs, I had an interesting realization. I would rather look like I do now, with all my minor lumps and bulges, than any of those people. Elite athleticism is, I think, not in my future. Color me unsurprised.
