i-Update

The student housing issues are totally under control (so far).

BKB gave me a three-week estimate before they'll be done repairing my Dansko's.

Brown's Shoe Fit had a lovely pair of Clark's on sale that fit great.

Campus mail can suck my left tit.

The lying-sack-of-shit airport shuttle company said they would refund our guest's credit card.

The tester reported my body fat was 22%.

Yesterday I did a couple things that weren't awesome.

Making it through the drilling and filling with no anesthesia was pretty awesome.

Some joker left a note on my desk that had a cartoon bee saying "Run for your life, allergy girl."

Coffee is awesome.

Water is important, but not as awesome as coffee.

Unless something falls apart this afternoon, I shouldn't have to work on Monday and I'll get a three-day weekend.

Nothing has gone kablooey at the dorms yet, and people started arriving yesterday evening.

My life is not going to improve unless I stop doing un-awesome things.

Word

I thought about that this morning when I decided to spend all day cleaning. I hate it. Maybe I shouldn't do it. I'm missing important time with Jay.

Then I thought, It feels un-awesome to live in a filthy house. So, while cleaning is not awesome compared to the other things I could be doing, a clean house is awesome, so I'll clean and enjoy the awesome this weekend.

I should make a second poster, of this, to hang next to the other poster (http://chernobylred.livejournal.com/642713.html?thread=6754457#t6754457).

Amen.

I know, right? Mmm.

[identity profile] miischelle.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for 22%!!!!
Yes?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I was shocked, and not a little pleased, I admit. However, this means I'm going to have to get below 20% if I want to be able to see muscle definition without flexing.

YOU CAN DO EEETTTT!!!!!!

And you have so less far to go than you was afearing!
GoTeamLydia!!!!

No kidding. Here I thought I was pushing 30% again. Goes to show, I absolutely cannot trust my own judgment of what I see in the mirror or photos. My eyes lie to me. =(

[identity profile] miischelle.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
is'ok. mine do too.

This is awesome. 15% is acknowledged by mystics to be the most harmonious of body-fat percentages. A 5 to 7% drop is well within the parameters spoken of by the ancients.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Let's hope the person measuring me didn't fall in the upper range of the variable. Below 20% is a lot farther away if I'm really at 26%. =D

I'm going to see how much of a percentage point I can drop this month, and will set a year-end goal based on that.

just as a matter of interest

here are some photos and stats of some elite athletes just to give you bellwether.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That 35 year-old marathon runner is one of the saddest things I've ever seen. Sixteen and a half inch thighs? o_O Her biceps are only two inches bigger around than my wrist. And I have very small wrists.

As I paged through those photographs, I had an interesting realization. I would rather look like I do now, with all my minor lumps and bulges, than any of those people. Elite athleticism is, I think, not in my future. Color me unsurprised.

speaking of coffee being awesome, have you seen the aeropress? yum yum yum yum yum yum yum yum yum!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Good. God.

No, I hadn't. But...wow! The gasket on my current espresso maker (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=espresso+maker+stove+top&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&cid=1194402906573541389&ei=VyAuTMq3NoOINpqQ6KMB&sa=title&ved=0CBkQ8wIwAzgA#p) is about dead and I can't find any replacements. I'm going to give this Aeropress some thought! I like that it's made in the U.S., too.

Hey! A Lawrence roasterie/coffee shop sells them!

Edit: And they have some in stock!

Thank you so much for the info on this. It qualifies as awesome!

Glad I could contribute to the awesome :). Let me know what you think if you do try the aeropress out. I seem to be converting tons of people to both Starting Strength and the aeropress these days.

If I hadn't had to purchase a pair of shoes last night (three week waiting list for repairs?!?!), I'd have bought one after work tonight.

Next paycheck, though. Definitely.

I'm gonna have to say, as someone who has put some careful thought into the Awesome Adaption Principleā„¢ That you will become more Awesome by doing more awesome things and adapting to them. I'm not sure if the negative is true. Meaning that some sort of quotient will be increased by eliminating non-awesome things.
Related proverb: If you try to catch two rabbits you will get none.
or to put it another way: Is asceticism awesome?
Or perhaps it is possible to take a metaphor too far...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Is asceticism awesome?

I can answer that: No. Unless you're using it for purely the Greek meaning of the word, in which case...that would be a qualified yes.

But I like your suggestion to couch the phrase in more positive terms, though: My life improves as I continue to do more awesome things.
