I haz a style

Thanks to the Lindsay Lohan video that [livejournal.com profile] bart_calendar posted yesterday, I know what I'm gonna do with my hair. Apparently it's just called "long layers" and isn't an unusual style at all. It's just most of the time I see it, I see it in photos. Where it looks fine. But seeing it move in that video clinched it for me. I like how it's easy and clean and simple, but also looks a teeny bit Bardot-esque. And isn't limited for styling options should I decide to actually do my hair once in a blue moon. Here is a large photo that shows the style. Check it out, we have similar cowlicks in front. And here's the video.

I like the way it looks in ponytails. Very cute.

It's going to be a while before it's that long, alas. Probably another year? But I'm thinking of taking this to a stylist so s/he can start working on things now. I'm tired of the triangle-head thing I've got going on. Especially when it's humid and the ends curl up like crazy.

Hm. It just occurred to me that this is Suhaila's hairstyle. And for all that she annoys the hell out of me, the woman has some fucking awesome hair. Looks good while she's dancing, too. Excellent.

That's basically how my hair was, too, from 2005-2008. Aw, I miss it some days. A la icon.

Really?? Wow. Huh. Um. Is this what [livejournal.com profile] nataliesee has now, too?

Is the fact that I don't understand hair and hair styles cause for me to turn in my girly-girl card? Or can I make up for it with bonus points for nail care knowledge.

[identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, nail care makes up for it! A nice balance.

And yes, Natalie's hair is in long layers, too. Though... very grown out long layers at the moment.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
But still looks great. Very important for someone who doesn't like to pay for frequent haircuts.

[identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Also if you have to cut off split ends, it's unnoticeable!

[identity profile] zhukora1.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
When my hair was shorter I had long layers. It was cute while it lasted! It's definitely a look I'd recommend--it's one of those rare styles that looks good on pretty much everybody.

And apropos of nothing, as a former archery instructor, her form in that pic you linked hurts me inside.

Apropos of nothing, your icon is fucking awesome.

[identity profile] zhukora1.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! :D

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL.. you said it about the archery uh.. pose.
And the uh.. bow. My whole family shot field archery when I was growing up. I made English National champ at the age of 11, up against 16 yr old boys. Almost wish I'd kept it up.

[identity profile] femfataleatron.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna get that haircut too! I totally could. then I would look like lilo as well.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
The only drawback to that plan is people might not be able to tell us apart.

[identity profile] femfataleatron.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I will only wear baby tees with the word "brat" stenciled on, that way people will know it's me. And some sort of pants too.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Make sure your pants say JUICY.

[identity profile] femfataleatron.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
OOoo yes! that way I can embody the binary nature of the Juicy Brat. I'm totally turning myself on while simultaneously spurning my own advances. I feel like maybe I should allow some sort of exploitation, or I wont be complete as a... Whatever it is that I am.
Thas one hella haircut.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2010-07-16 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
If you want it that long quickly, you too can get extensions just like Lindsay's!

That's part of the problem with celebrity hairstyles, and trying to get them, most of the time, it's fake hair.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
No extensions, thanks! Mine'll get that long eventually.

Love this look- should be outstanding on you.

I'm laughing at the flashback of the last celebrity hair style I took to a stylist in an attempt to duplicate.

Unfortunately for me, it worked. Dorothy Hamill. Swear to godz. Yes, I am a might older than you as well. *ahem*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ha!

The first celebrity haircut I took to someone was Kelly McGillis's curly pageboy cut from Top Gun.

[identity profile] pamelonian.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps you will recall that I used to sport that very cut! That's me, ahead of the time or behind the times. If I ever grow my hair long again, everyone else will be chopping theirs short!

I think it will look great on you! I also have the cowlicks you mention.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-07-17 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, you're right! I'd forgotten that. You style maven, you!
