I'm almost famous!

Look at me! Look at me! How awesome is that?

Whole9 | The 9 Blog

Woot! Woot!

The fact that I feel a weird sort of validation about that is silly. But it's nice to be assured that a recipe I created really is straight-up Whole30-compliant with no modifications. And sounds tasty enough to be featured on the Whole30 webpage!

I don't think it's silly at all. Think of it this way:

Winning a ribbon at the County Fair and feeling proud isn't silly, so neither is having a recipe published on a site you admire.

Strut and preen, woman!

Plus, I loved the tip included about a pasta server (huh! never thought of that), and making carnitas from the ribs.. super! You get more minerals than with a roast.

Win!

Yay for friends who aid and abet validate each other!

I hadn't considered the minerals aspect, but you're right. Especially when you make 'em in the slow-cooker. I've always used the country-style spare ribs for carnitas. It's a cheap cut of meat, tastier and fattier than roast, and I can use the leftover bones for stock. Grand Slam!

I've never made carnitas with ribs before. Hmmm. I should try. I've always used a pork butt, which also contains a good amount of fat. It is the perfect cut of pork for smoking as well.

I will post the soup I made with pork ribs later tonight. It may work for you, depending on the seasoning I use. The ingredient list is in Spanish. I'll have to translate to make sure there isn't added sugar.

Thanks, I'll be sure to check.

Yeah. I'm thrilled that Jay's photo is up on Think Geek, even though it isn't some grand photographic prize. But I'm a Geek, so I got a good happy joy squeal out of it the first time I saw it up there.

Woohoo! You're internet famous!

At least my cooking is...

Send whole9 a pic of your shoulders!

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
mmm, so damn fine!
Wish I could stop by and snitch some.

I miss trading leftovers with you...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish you could, too. =( Missing you is sucky.

[identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Very cool and not silly at all! Good for you.

And I am SO trying that recipe; cooking for one is a challenge for me and I tend not to "fuss" which means not eating as healthily as when I was cooking for two.

The using the ribs and getting more minerals is something I had never considered and the use of the pasta spoon is brilliant!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

I always thought of the country style ribs as too fatty for something like this but yay for this recipe because, yeah, they are always dirt cheap. And OMG GENIUS on the pasta spoon.

ETA: all this by way of saying I am so trying this recipe.

Yay! Lemme know what you think of it!

My original recipe included a splash of tequila, so if you're still doing the booze thing, definitely try that!

I should really get myself a crock pot. I've never owned a slowcooker.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Go. Buy. One. TODAY. For serious.

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
TOTAL AGREEMENT!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Very exciting!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry you can't try the recipe! =D

I have found some amazing vegetable recipes, though. One even goes in the crockpot (http://littlegreybungalow.blogspot.com/2010/08/its-too-darn-hot.html)!

Neat! Way to go. :)

I ate steak last night at a restaurant. [livejournal.com profile] aisa0 is visiting, and we were out and about, and I decided we were going to "share" a NY strip. I ate about 1/4 of it. It was rare, and delicious. First bite of red meat I've eaten since I was 16 years old...you are the first person I thought to tell about it. :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-08-22 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! That's a huge step! I'm glad it was delicious for you.
