Another Whole30 success

Remember my dad decided to do the Whole30 after he learned of my success with it?

Yesterday was his last day of the Whole30. He was so good and didn't weigh himself the entire time, despite being someone who likes those numbers (like father like daughter).

He got on the scale this morning. Fifteen pounds gone. Fifteen pounds! In a month!

*Family Happy Dance*

He's going to resume putting butter on his vegetables and start incorporating some fruit, but other than that, as he says "Ready for the next 30 days!"

I am so proud of him. So pleased and proud.

That's great news -- happy to hear he's feeling happy about it! Go, Daddy, go. :)

Wheee! How cool for him.

.. and yes, must have fat with the veggies in order to absorb the vitamins, agreed.

Well, he was using non-dairy oil, like olive and coconut.

oh cool. I never think about other oils.
It's all about the butter with me, I must get past that.

Aah, that was going to be my question, as to which oils were okay to use. I love olive oil.

Please Google "Whole30" or click on the Whole9 icon in the post and then follow the link for Whole30.

I did, but I must have missed where they talk about oils.

There's a whole list of things you can and can't eat right here (http://whole9life.com/2010/05/whole-30-v2/).

[identity profile] bleuberi21.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw that page...I did, in fact, miss the line about oil. Thanks!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
They expect you to do some deductive reasoning and figure if you're not supposed to eat grains, then you shouldn't be eating corn oil. You can eat chicken and beef, so schmaltz and lard are good. Etc.

If you want an oil-specific article about which oils are good and which are bad, you can check out Mark Sisson's take on them, here (http://www.marksdailyapple.com/healthy-oils/). He and the Whole9 folk don't see eye to eye on everything, but it's a start.

Awesome, thank you!

Oh, wow! That's fabulous!

And it is really hard for me to just weigh myself once a week. Staying off the scale for one month? Willpower win!

I should do that for my October - November month. My somewhat 3-month mark is October 3rd. I wonder if I can stay off the scale until November 6th. As long as I have pants to obsess over, probably.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what Daddy focused on--how his pants were fitting. He lost two inches around his waist during the Whole30, too.

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I also have running numbers to obsess over, so I'll do it. As long as I can measure something.

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to. If I feel like it was easy come November, then I'll do it for my next month, which means I'd weigh in again around StuDay, which is terrifying that winter weather is that close.

But, yippee, StuDay!
