Bronze Age

For [livejournal.com profile] roya_spirit, who sees me in bronze, here are ten things I like in that color.

1. The bra and belt to Sarah Skinner's Mata Hari costume.

2. My bra cups. Technically brass, but with the dark choli and mottled coins, a bronzey-feel:

3. Bronze Avalokiteswara/Guan Yin

4. MAC's Bronze eyeshadow. Any bronze eyeshadow, really. I have more variations on dark brown metallic eyeshadows that I have any other color.

5. This amazing sink, by Kohler.

6. These Manolo Blahnik shoes.

7. The Four Horses of San Marco. Mostly because they make me think of Venice.

8. Bronze door knobs. My old apartment at 1011 Tennessee had them--along with heavy, solid-wood doors.

9. Bronze dupioni silk. Oh, the garments I could make.

10. And finally, a well-bronzed Megan Fox, before she got all surgeried-up.

Oh. That sink.... I think I am in love.

Glorious, isn't it? I love Art Nouveau design.

The only downside is it would be nasty business to scrub hardened toothpaste out of the grooves.

I'd say it's obviously for someone who has a person to do that for them.

I thought of bronze mainly because of #4, and any coppery color, I immediately associate with you. And that glorious copper-bronze taffeta dress.

God, I wish I had more of that fabric. It was pretty, wasn't it? Alas, that dress is way too big for me now. And I do not alter clothes! =D

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)

Did you pass it along? I'd love to try it on if not.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried to give it away, but nobody wanted it.

I'll see if I boxed it up, or if I ditched it in the scrap fabric file.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Jeez.

I'd love to see it again.

Did you know that theatre groups are often delighted to get donations of frocks like that?

Good to know! I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Oh gosh, Megan Fox DID used to be a lot cuter. wtf

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. It's sad. She was so gorgeous.

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
What did she have done, and WHY?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Lookit the pic I posted and lookit the link I linked. Compare.

I don't know the ins and outs of plastic surgery, but the girl's obviously had work done. As to the why... it's Hollywood, and it's a sad, sad place.

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I did look, did she change her JAW, what a crime.

[identity profile] miischelle.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
or maybe her cheekbones?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I see definite work on her nose, on her cheekbones, and some alterations in her lips.
