Last night at dance class the foot that's been bugging me for about a week finally asserted itself. It felt like someone was driving an ice pick through the top of my foot, right at the highest point of my arch. Ow. It's a lot better this morning, having been wrapped in an ace bandage all night. Unfortunately, I can't get in to see my NP until tomorrow afternoon. Rats! I think I'll still be able to dance at Aladdin's if I wear thick socks with boots and dance flat-footed. So I guess that means tres-ethnic for tomorrow's style. Bonus for audience members: This also probably means more floorwork and slow slinky stuff since I can't really hop around much.

After taking 5 ibuprofen, half a glass of wine, and some bedtime tea, I suffered nightmares most of the night and feel like hell today. The one that woke me (and 0verdrive) up screaming involved me trying to kill a snake by stepping on its head. But in the dream I didn't have my contacts in and I couldn't tell which end of the snake was which. So I kept stomping on an end, then pulling my foot back and stomping the other end, afraid that the snake would lash back and bite me. And the damn thing was really squishy and rubbery, so no matter how hard I stomped, it just flattened under my foot and then sprung back. Awful.

And now the 12 things meme that I've been avoiding, but now that I can't run errands here at work, I'm stuck with very little to do.

So, say you were meeting a new person - blind date, new friend, who knows. And you wanted them to have some idea of what kind of person you are, and who you are. But you can't actually tell them in so many words. Instead, you have to give them a box, with a dozen things in it for them to ponder over. What would you put in the box? No cheating - you're not allowed to include things such as photos of you or links to your livejournal.
1. The Joy of Cooking (even though I don't own the book, it conveys the right message)
2. A dance costume
3. A photo of my sewing room
4. A tube of red lipstick
5. A mix CD of the following: Peter Gabriel, Middle Eastern drum rhythms, Broadway show tunes, They Might Be Giants, and an assortment of Rockabilly songs
6. A photo of my boy and cat (like this one)
7. Kleenex
8. Modern Design: The Fabulous 50s (again, I don't own it, but we're dealing with concepts here)
9. Knitting needles
10. A neatly kept daily planner
11. Hello Kitty anything
12. A menu from J. Alexander's

speaking of rockabilly, when is the next Rhythm Busters show, or something similar?
I gotta bring the new guy out for a spin. ;)

R, hitting the email bug on lunch break for a brief moment in time

Well, Junior got a call from the Jackpot Saloon this morning saying "Call us back" and hasn't gotten in touch with them yet. So I'm thinking this show (http://www.livejournal.com/users/chernobylred/60482.html) might be delayed again. I'll post info here as I find out.

Sounds to me like you've got a toe out of place (but high up in the foot). Lots of people don't believe in chiropractic, but I do, and therefore would suggest you go see your chiropractor. If you don't have one, but would like one, I see someone who I like very much, and I believe that Star's chiropractor is also very good.

Hm! I never would have thought of that. I went to a chiropractor (Mikal Adams) many many years ago for an out of whack back and she did such a great job that I have even more strength and flexibility in my back than I did at 20! But I wouldn't have even thought of going back to see her for my foot. If the x-rays don't show a fracture, I will definitely consider making an appointment with her. Thanks for the tip.

Hmmm. If she's still around (Lawrence I assume?) I might look at visiting her. I like my doc, but he's not quite getting the places fixed that I need to get fixed. Mostly at this point, he's keeping me from getting more out-of-whack than I already am, so mostly it's not about being "pain free" but more about "pain control". I'd much rather be pain free.

When Star was having problems with her back, she was putting a lot of strain on one of her wrists. I suggested she have her chiro fix it, and she got a lot better, and ended up not having to wear her splint 24/7 (she still wore it some, but not as much). It's one of those things that I forget about sometimes also... but now I go to my chiro first, and the traditional docs second (like when I fell so hard on the ice and hurt my back). I would probably have had to have been wrapped in a rib splint for weeks after that fall if I'd gone to a regular doc. Now, I have a little pain from time to time, but nothing like it would have been. So, chiro is somethat that I have started to take very seriously. Of course, the fact that I have a history of fibromyalgia also makes me grateful to find a doc that will actually bother to treat *any* pain, rather than brushing me off... which probably accounts for most of my favoritism to chiros.

Anyway, I hope your foot isn't broken at all, and that you're back to walking again normally.

Oh, and if you're able, please come to potluck on Sunday. I wanted to make sure you knew you and O were invited. :)

Gosh, Lydia, you're so sweet.

*hugs*

(Okay, now I've got to get back to "work").

The Steak Maui is to die for. Ahhhh. We go there for my birthday and it's such a treat. You'd never dream it was a chain restaurant!

mmmm, me too! (And not just because it's got my name on it.)
