A bright and shiny new year

Happy 2011!

When I got up this morning (not when I woke up--for the second time--this morning), there was a gorgeous sliver of silver waning crescent moon with some planet close by. In the slightly brightening indigo sky, it was a beautiful way to greet the new year.

Of course, that was not how I actually greeted the new year. The way I greeted the new year was at three-thirty-ish in the morning when [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick and his group started getting raucous after wrapping up their festivities at the house. They must've been downstairs for a while (I found the box of tea bags out, and a dirty cup), so kudos to them for being quiet for so long. Bless their hearts. However, [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick got a little too heavily in the spirit of things and started talking in his Teacher Voice. I stumbled downstairs, to do my best at being polite but firm on the "keep it down kids" things when suddenly someone decided to get all handsy and affectionate.

Everyone left pretty quickly. Thank goodness I was able to convince him to go to sleep (after downing a glass of Emergen-C) reasonably soon after that. And thank goodness I managed to get another three hours of sleep.

I'm downloading the TACFIT Mass Assault manual, calendars, and video instructions on a computer here at home so I can get started on the program today. Because I wanted to get right to it, and didn't feel like wasting time picking out the first CD for the new year, I took a gamble and put on the radio. The Foo Fighter's remake of Darling Nikki is really not too bad. Nice tune to ring in the new year with, anyway.

A reminder! I'm doing the Whole30 starting today. [livejournal.com profile] miischelle, you still with me? Anyone else?

Oh! I almost forgot. There is no scale-checking allowed on the Whole30, so I weighed myself when I got up (the second time) this morning and it showed an even 139.00. Very nice. But no more weigh-ins until my birthday.

I'm in on the Whole 30 thing...have already planned out the whole month of dinners, even. I'm very excited about this...all the junk food from the last few weeks had me feeling miserable last night. :( I won't post what the scale read this morning...suffice to say that it's not beeen that high since 2006. :o

Congratulations on taking on the Whole30! And good for you for not saying "I think I'll try..." The mentality of "I'm in!" is half the battle--at least!

Ya know I'm in! I'm hoping to maintain for 45 days, so I'm going until Feb. 10.

Woot! And you're doing swimmingly!

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2011-01-01 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll do it. Starting Monday. Gawds help my morning coffee.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-01-01 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! You can do it!

Are you going to try drinking it black or just give it up?

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2011-01-01 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going black. I'd hate to kill someone on I-70 because I can't stay awake driving into work at 6:30am.

Honestly, I can give up cheese for 1 month. The only thing that made me hesitate was cream in my coffee. I've never sweetened my coffee, but hmmmm...creamy coffee.

I doubt that I'll try coconut milk either--that's allowed, right? I can taste coconut, and I don't really want coconut coffee. I know most people say they can't taste it when using coconut oil, milk, flour, but I can. I'm also one of those people that will smell something that nobody else smells. It doesn't surprise me that I can taste things that others claim they cannot.

Just curious, besides maybe wine, are you not pretty much eating Whole30 anyhow? Was there anything else that you added back in once you were done the first time?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-01-01 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, I use coconut milk in my coffee, but I didn't suggest that 'cos I remember your dislike of coconut. Poor thing. =(

I tried adding dairy back in November, but it didn't go very well. But you're right. Besides the wine, I pretty much eat 100% Whole 30 clean all the time anyway. I'm using this Whole30 to decrease my reliance on nuts when I'm lazy and don't want to eat a real meal and experiment (budget-wise) with buying more organic produce. As well as get these alcohol sugars out of my gut. I've been having some tummy upset problems and I think perhaps they stem from my weekend wine treat becoming an every-night-after-work glass of something.

This isn't a big change for me either.

Day One: I did it, but I almost said, "fuck this shit" to the lack of dairy. Mainly in regards to my coffee. But I did it.

Go, you!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you know me, I'm not in on the Whole30, but I'm in on the TacFit.

I decided to wait til the New Year Weekend is over to start mine. I didn't believe I could win the contest and don't like posting vids so I'm good with doing it my way.

Alright I'm behind the times :) Clue me in girls! I'd love to do something to change our lifestyle (me and the girls) but it's sooooo damn expensive to eat healthy when you have kids and one income. Tell me things and stuffs! Maybe I can really get the girls into this with me. All about getting us healthier and less exhausted
