Bouncing all over
Applicant files are, for the most part, put to bed. There are still a few materials dribbling in, but on the rare occasion that one of them completes a file, it's up to the committee if they want to read it or not. So the stressful part for me* is over.

May I just say how completely amazing and, yes, magical it was to put all the files on data CDs for distribution to the committee members instead of lugging boxes of files to the small conference room? I don't have to worry about lost materials, committee members don't have to worry about checking out files, it's just all on one beautiful little silver platter.
Next week is vacation week yay and I absolutely must stop booking myself for activities. I have plenty to keep me busy and I must crack down on focusing what I really want (Goals!) instead of being tempted and distracted by what sounds fun and exciting at the moment. Not that I'm going to back out of any of the already-planned fun and exciting, mind you. But as of now, nothing else gets added to the planner. For real. Except maybe dinner with some people I haven't seen in a long time, but that's not terribly likely since we're all so busy.
Anyway. Bookings. They're closed. Mostly.
I've been waking up before 6:00 a.m. for about a week now, without the assistance of an alarm. It's great! It's probably only of interest to me (and anyone tracking my weird body reactions to life stuff), but I wanted to note it here. I think this is largely due to kicking daily alcohol use to the curb, since that's the only thing I've changed--well, that and not eating at restaurants, which wasn't exactly a regular activity to begin with.
Which, by the way, for locals--if you want to go out to eat at a restaurant with me, Aladdin Café is the only place that hasn't made me sick. Not from unsafe or spoiled food, but just my now-sensitive system won't tolerate any place else (that I've found). So. Take from that what you will. One can eat clean at Aladdin Café.
I'm babbling. And antsy. And ready to start my vacation.
*It's stressful for me because I work my ass off to get as many files completed by the deadline as possible. This includes my emailing tardy letter-writers and putting phone calls in to other university registrar offices to plead for a transcript fax.
