Bouncing all over
Applicant files are, for the most part, put to bed. There are still a few materials dribbling in, but on the rare occasion that one of them completes a file, it's up to the committee if they want to read it or not. So the stressful part for me* is over.

May I just say how completely amazing and, yes, magical it was to put all the files on data CDs for distribution to the committee members instead of lugging boxes of files to the small conference room? I don't have to worry about lost materials, committee members don't have to worry about checking out files, it's just all on one beautiful little silver platter.
Next week is vacation week yay and I absolutely must stop booking myself for activities. I have plenty to keep me busy and I must crack down on focusing what I really want (Goals!) instead of being tempted and distracted by what sounds fun and exciting at the moment. Not that I'm going to back out of any of the already-planned fun and exciting, mind you. But as of now, nothing else gets added to the planner. For real. Except maybe dinner with some people I haven't seen in a long time, but that's not terribly likely since we're all so busy.
Anyway. Bookings. They're closed. Mostly.
I've been waking up before 6:00 a.m. for about a week now, without the assistance of an alarm. It's great! It's probably only of interest to me (and anyone tracking my weird body reactions to life stuff), but I wanted to note it here. I think this is largely due to kicking daily alcohol use to the curb, since that's the only thing I've changed--well, that and not eating at restaurants, which wasn't exactly a regular activity to begin with.
Which, by the way, for locals--if you want to go out to eat at a restaurant with me, Aladdin Café is the only place that hasn't made me sick. Not from unsafe or spoiled food, but just my now-sensitive system won't tolerate any place else (that I've found). So. Take from that what you will. One can eat clean at Aladdin Café.
I'm babbling. And antsy. And ready to start my vacation.
*It's stressful for me because I work my ass off to get as many files completed by the deadline as possible. This includes my emailing tardy letter-writers and putting phone calls in to other university registrar offices to plead for a transcript fax.

No doubt artfully arranged as well! Congrats on the completion.
I have a day off from the hubs, he's working Sunday, and we're both taking Monday off to kick around, yay!
Sadness on eating out...
Have you tried the Global Cafe since all the new eating has made changes? Or the burger on a greens plate at The Burger Stand? You probably have, just mentioning a couple places you may not have been to lately that are personal faves of mine.. entirely self-motivated, of course ;)

I did eat at Dempsey's, but haven't tried anything at the new location. At least they'll cook the burger to medium, which means there'd be some moisture in the mix. I'm always suspicious of salad dressings and never eat them anymore.
Haven't tried Global Café ever. Looking at their menu, though, I don't see anything I can't cook at home--which is always a deterrent for me. If I'm paying for restaurant food, I want it to be something I can't put together myself.

Actually, Dempsey's will cook it med rare on the rare side,
if you ask for it. I have.
And their dressings can come 'on the side'.. they're very good at understanding "I can't eat that" folks.
Oh, and the pickled veggies on the salad are amazing, I've eaten the salad with no dressing at all!

I didn't mean Dempsey's, but
The Burger Stand, which is now next to the old Casbah.
I see you got that they have a new location.

People, as in, those who bring bread and butter pickles to picnics?
Ugh, yes, that kind of pickled makes me retch.
Laughter aside, I'd be sorely disappointed if someone who has a rep as a gourmet cook specializing in Intense Flavors (http://www.amazon.com/Cooks-Book-Intense-Flavors-Extraordinary/dp/1592334326) used sugar in those. But I'd overlook it as an occasional thing I could handle.
Hey, I bet we could ask her ourselves (http://mollykrause.wordpress.com/)!

I'm automatically biased against someone who uses "breath" as a verb. =b

Hopefully they have a better editor for the cookbook.
Funny how many people do mix up those words.
