I feel tingly!

And, unfortunately, not in a good way.

A couple weeks ago, after a few hours of working on some collage stuff in my sewing room, I realized that my legs were kind of numb and achey along the hamstrings and behind my knees. My feet felt like they were asleep, too. I chalked it up to sitting on the chair in that room (which is not the most ergonomic, I'll admit) for too long.

But it hasn't gone away. They feel like that pretty much all the time now. Yesterday morning, my legs still felt the same way as soon as I got out of bed. Tres uncool.

[livejournal.com profile] mckitterick suggested it might be the several months I've neglected to sit on my balance ball at the office. I decided I wanted to try Esther Gokhale's method of sitting in a chair with alternate style of back support. I think maybe that's not working for me. Or maybe I need to switch off every month. Something.

I'm back to sitting on the ball today. I could use a bicycle pump, though. Poor ball is a little low after such a long period of disuse.

If my legs don't feel better after vacation*, I'll talk to Risa my awesome rolfer about the problem. Because it's kind of freaking me out.

*A vacation where I shall make the time for yoga and exercise

That would worry me too.

Yeah. I've never had anything like this happen, ever. Me no likey.

I don't know anything, but the first thing I thought of was slightly pinched nerve. Where are the "knows its" on this stuff. looks at [livejournal.com profile] femfataleatron ;)

I've had pinched nerves in my shoulders and neck. This feels different. Honestly, I think I'd prefer the pinched nerve! It's not as creepy, somehow.

Fear of the unknown, I dig it.

Exactly.

It sounds really similar to the type of sensations I get, but I know the reasons for mine. If it should be some sort of temporary myelin degeneration, I'd more suspect in your case that it could be a nutritional cause on top of the prolonged sitting.

Maybe without as much "cush" in the backs of your legs, you could use a slightly padded seating area?

My feet are totally numb in spots, but I know that's from wearing my Mile High but Awesome Carlos Santana heels to go dancing NYE.

Jeez. I hadn't even thought of that. Huh.

All the more reason to get back on the ball.

What kind of seat is giving you the bad tingle?

That would be creepy, and I hope you solve it soon.

It's just the KU-issued desk chairs at work. The chair at home is a basic Office Depot task chair--but I took off the back rest and I sit on it backwards, like a rolling stool.
