We don't have room for everyone

Everything (and nearly everybody) at work is getting on my nerves. I'm being judicious in emails I answer because if I have to provide anything other than absolute factual information, I fear that things will descend into bitter, petty snarking not even worthy of my junior-high days.

No idea what brought on this mood shift. I suppose I shouldn't expect permanently lifted spirits just like *that*. I think I need a weekend in a bad way. Last weekend was crappy and maybe I feel a little robbed. Also, I still miss my cat. A lot.

This made me smile, though:
Rules for a Gunfight

I got out of bed this morning with no will to exercise. Instead, I prepped more food for the awesome dehydrator that [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick bought me for my birthday. Last night I put on zucchini slices, which I removed this morning as tiny, delicious chips. Today I'm drying five trays of sliced kiwi, pineapple, and bananas. This evening, I'll slice flank steak and put it in a marinade (using the pineapple juice) for drying on Saturday.

Our house is slowly becoming Apocalypse Central. It's not something I ever expected of my life.

Public shout-out to [livejournal.com profile] roya_spirit and [livejournal.com profile] bestill who were kind enough to brave the weather and make time for me this week. It was super fab to spend a couple hours chatting. What perfect distraction! I'm grateful for your friendship and company.

Oh you lucky dog! The 9-tray excalibur has been on my amazon wishlist forEVer as a replacement/upgrade to the old round dehydrator I've been using for years! Crap - why didn't I think to buy *that* instead of frittering away my birthday money on ebooks and nonsense.

I am a lucky dog!

Between the vitamix that [livejournal.com profile] adammaker long-term-loaned me, the rotisserie oven my folks gave me for xmas, and this dehydrator, I am completely set for small cooking appliances. It makes me feel really good about my kitchen--which is pretty much my favorite room in the house.

Now you have plans for your birthday money this year! If you buy from Excalibur directly, you can pick one of their Web Specials and get certain freebies. Ironically, I chose the Vegan and Raw Foodist deal (http://www.excaliburdehydrator.com/product.php?action=list&specials=yes&shopping_group=rawfoodists) because it comes with a couple free Paralexx sheets, which I figured were more valuable than jerky marinades that I wouldn't use.
