Where is my mind

I am not an absent-minded person. This week I've been trying to focus on the now, as I mentioned in a post a few days ago. But recently, I've done some spectacularly stupid things that can only be attributed to inattention. I'm not inattentive while I'm doing them. I'm just...thinking wrong. Or something. Just today I've already pulled two dumb stunts.

This morning, I made up the henna for this weekend's hair coloring session with [livejournal.com profile] nottygypsy. Mixed it all up, put it in the separate containers, wrote our names on the lids (we use different types of henna), put them in the freezer and left for work. But I wasn't supposed to put them in the freezer. I was supposed to put them in the upstairs bathroom, where it's warm. Of course, I didn't realize this until I was already at work. I've left a message and an email with [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick, in hopes that he wakes up and listens to/reads them very soon. If the henna freezes, it's ruined, and there's twenty bucks down the toilet.

After I made my coffee, I refilled the electric kettle with water from the fountain to pour into my Brita pitcher (the Brita won't fit under the flow of the water fountain). I got back to my office, started on work email, and about ten minutes later I heard the water boiling. I'd put the kettle on to boil instead of pouring it in the Brita pitcher.

This is annoying and depressing and frightening. Sing it, Mr. Black.

So apropos..

Well now, Sing it, Lisa Koch. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tMyNhTAFoU)
You'll get a kick out of some of this.

God, I hope I'm not middle-aged yet. I'm shooting to make it to a hundred. Eighty-two would fall pretty damn short of that. =b

I don't consider myself middle-aged either, and my years definitely qualify.
Let's not even talk about the mileage...
I'm feeling every damned last one of them.

I'm booked up for Saturday, but lemme know if/when you want some girlfriend time. Maybe Friday night or Sunday?

XOXO

That would be super.
I'll get back witchoo after checking in w/ Jbird.
Mebbe my place this time?

Sure!

Welcome to my life; this is one of the more frustrating symptoms of Dyscalculia.

[identity profile] apocalypticbob.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel ya. Been struggling with the same problems myself. That and my new lack of time sense have been some of the most frustrating parts of my recent life.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor thing. Oof.

Lack of time sense would be a major bummer. Hope you can get a handle on things soon.

Boo

I hate those days.

I find the busier I am the more things tend to slip, stress is also a cause.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm pretty sure I know what the cause is. Knowing it doesn't make it easier, though.

It's mostly a waiting game until my test results come back and I can confer with the specialist guy in KC about treatment options. I just hope I don't, you know, burn down my house or something in the meantime.

I do that sort of shit all the time. My mind sometimes just wanders all over the place. It drives me bonkers.

The most common thing for me is to put tea on to brew, and then forget about it for an hour or more. It's come to be known as "teanesia," and everyone ribs me about it.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, man. It'd drive me bonkers, too. No offense to you, but I sure hope mine isn't permanent!
