Actually, that's kind of what she looks like right now while she waits in the freezer. Just change the box to a white USPS Priority Mail box. I'm taking her to Cindy from KCRF's Used Pet Store next weekend.

That's the phrase I use for the booth at our local ren fest that sells animal skulls, bones, and pelts. They're pretty awesome folks.

Agreed. There is no rhyme or reason to when it hits. I lost my dad five years ago, and there are still times when it hits me out of the blue, derailing my entire thought process.

I knew when my last hamster died a couple years ago that Fetish's death was gonna be rough. Whooof. I can't comprehend losing a parent. I don't suppose there is any understanding it until it happens.

That's a fair assessment. I thought I understood it when I lost my best friend at 18, but losing a parent was another thing entirely.

Cindy's going to clean off the carcass and return to me the bones, with which I'll make various art projects. Someone very kind is going to do a beautiful piece with the skull for me to display.

I am so sorry. It is an ache. I still miss my Bennie. He will have been gone four years on April 18.

pamelonian and I have had various animals in our freezers. Quite a few rats. Most of the ratties were buried in the yard of my previous house. I would have loved to go the Used Pet Store way with them, and with Bennie. I hope they are still doing what they do when Tiri dies, and I hope that's a long way off. I think it's a beautiful idea. My plan for Tiri's skull is to do a line illustration of all the things that she loved, and all of her many nicknames. I will have to see how cute I can make a stylized cat turd, because I would be remiss if I left it off.
