What is wrong with people?
I ask that too often. I think I need to stop.
Today's re-query was caused by the receipt of two (two!) applications for admission with no supporting materials. Our deadline for application materials is 5:00 p.m., April 1. The chances of their self-submitted materials (C.V., resume, writing samples) arriving in time are minimal. The chances of their other materials (transcripts, GREs, letters of rec) are slim to none. So most likely, these poor saps just wasted $45 on an application that won't even get completed, much less read.
I can understand waiting until the last minute to do something, but this is beyond the last minute and into the "day-late-and-45-dollars-short-now" category.
In other news, I'm feeling much better (just sniffles and sinus pressure) but could very much use a nap. And some Dolly Madison Powdered Sugar Gem Donuts. I don't think I'm going to get either.
