Juda-Juda-ah-ah

I picked up the Born This Way CD at Lovegarden while I was downtown this afternoon.

And okay, I'm a 100% convert to "Judas," now just because of how totally fucking awesome it sounds on our stereo system.

Holy shit, you guys.

I agree!! Despite my reservations on it, I had to pony up.

Plus, we recorded the Monster Ball show on Sat night.. what fun that was to watch/listen with home theater :)

Oh, cool! What did it broadcast on?

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2011-05-31 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe it was a repeat on HBO. I recorded it. :)
Now if I can figure if there's a way to move the recording off the DirecTV DVR, we'll be set!

Awesome.

I went and listened to that song for the first time after your review.

It feels very, very similar to "Bad Romance" in a higher key, so much so that I could sing along most of "Bad Romance" to it with only a few breaks in chord structure and tempo. I know it is a catchy formula that works for her, and gives her the distinctive Lady Gaga sound, but as someone who reinvents herself so often in her visual style, she is remarkably consistent in her auditory style.

I wouldn't base that on just the one song. Judas is rather a Part Two of Bad Romance, I agree. But check out the other songs on the CD. You might change your mind.

It's true that Born This Way is quite different, being major rather than minor, for one thing. And some of her consistency is due to the pop-disco genre she has chosen - disco is very very consistent in tempo and rhythm. I'm not saying they aren't good songs, which they are.

So, Gaga dance party at your place?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-05-31 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah.

w00t! Even I have to admit it sounds pretty awesome, and the diversity of music on this album is fascinating.

Seconded.

Yeah, Lydia made me a Gaga fan awhile ago. (Thankee!)

Yay! You're welcome!

On Repeat...Judas

Speaking of this song, I pre-ordered Born This Way (thinking they might go out...heh) and had it shipped to me so I could play this at max volume. I agree, when I first heard Judas I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but have now grown to love it, and often gets in my head where it stays. How did you like #7 song where she speaks in German? ^.^

It's ... okay. Not one of my top faves, but I don't dislike it as much as "Born This Way." =D
