Acupuncture progress
My wonderful acupuncturist, Kiva, was out of town for nearly two weeks, so I hadn't had an appointment with her since May 30th. I can tell when I go that long between sessions. For one, my energy levels are low-low-low, and for two, I'm really swollen. In fact, when I arrived for my session last night, she asked how I was and I said "Swollen." She looked at me and said "Yeah, you are. Pretty much everywhere." It's amazing (and helpful) that someone who sees me on a weekly basis can notice changes in ways that daily-viewers don't. I suppose she's also looking at me with a more/differently critical eye.
She worked on a lot of points. One on the top of my head, eight in my face, four in my belly, two on my feet, four on my toes (those were pretty intense), and two in my legs. And then she did moxa--one on each shoulder, one on the inside of each elbow, and one in my belly button. Whew. I was in the room for an hour, and she was working on me nearly the whole time (only one ten minute resting session with the needles in).
I measured my waist this morning, after noticing that I was a lot less swollen than last night, and my waist is still at thirty inches. So I'm only two inches puffier than normal. sigh Yay? (update/edit: Next day, and I'm down another half inch. Slow and steady!)
But this means that I am responding well to the acupuncture and moxa treatments. Which is good. Expensive, but good. I'm resigned to the fact that I'm going to have to go for weekly treatments for, well, pretty much ever. Unless there's some sort of miracle breakthrough with my problems. Unlikely.
More possible proof that the acupuncture is working: I am super tired today. She did a lot of work to "get things moving" last night--reducing the edema and inflammation. So today my body's working hard to flush all that stuff out and it's pretty exhausting. I'm also getting weirdly lightheaded every once in while. No idea what that's about. It happens at odd times, too. Not when I stand or do anything. I'll just be typing along and get a little woooooo and then everything's okay again.
I'm not supposed to do this when we have shortened summer hours, but I think I'm gonna close my door for about fifteen minutes and take a short nap. Otherwise, I'm not going to be good for much of anything for the rest of the day. Never mind. Stupid construction or something going on right below my office.

i tried to go off sleeping pills but found it totally disruptive. decided to scratch it for the time being and concentrate on getting off mood meds. today i have been a bit existential, but generally i think it is going well.

Sleep is crucial to me.
