Small things first

My Tumblr post with the pictures of my Halloween makeup got reblogged a lot, from some pretty cool folks, including Calverita Mexicana. Neat.

I'm on Day Seven of this Whole30. A quarter of the way through.

The BBC reports that women boxers might be required to wear skirts instead of shorts as their basic uniform. This is vomit-inducing. Anyone remember FIFA's ruling that effectively banned the Iranian women's soccer team from competing in 2012? Yeah. Don't talk to me about how women are no longer an oppressed group and we should start feeling sorry for all those poor mens. Just...don't. No, really. I'm not asking for comments on this issue. Not right now. STFU.

A few days ago, I complained how I didn't have things to eat when my system was feeling delicate. Just in time for cold and flu season, my friend Mel posted an article to her blog entitled Feed A Cold, Paleo Style Good timing, Mel!

Today's Tumblr is especially for [livejournal.com profile] sdemory: Military Fashion, November 7. I hope enough of those qualify as Bunker Chic for you, Demory. I am wearing some military-esque fashion myself, today, but don't have a way to take a full-body shot. Alas.

I'm out of time, so thoughts and reflections on my latest trip to the Parental Units will have to wait for tomorrow.

AIBA asked boxers to trial the skirts, which they said would allow spectators to distinguish them from men

Um, if you have trouble figuring out that it's a woman you're looking at by your ticket saying "Boxing: Women" on it, and the announcer reading two women's names (it's not like a woman will be fighting a man and spectators may have trouble telling which one is which), I don't think skirts would solve your problem.

For. Real.

The whole thing makes me so very very angry.

Why the fuq should it matter what boxers wear as long as it doesn't give them an unfair advantage?

*Okay, so bare breasts might be a bit much, but, what the hell is wrong with the traditional shorts with a tank top?

They're women in a man's sport, and therefore must be made to know their place.

Congrats on getting reblogged! Way cool.

I hope you got in lotsa couch-sitting. I know I did. :) An entire day, all alone, me n the kitties on the couch.

I watched the entire five-hour, 1995 A&E production of Pride and Prejudice with Mommy.

o_O

Wowee! LOL.

You know, that CNN article about men was interesting, in the way that the best part of it really wasn't about inequality or oppression, but in it's final sentences, ... "Get off the video games five hours a day, get yourself together, get a challenging job and get married." It's time for men to man up.

It's leaving me wondering along those lines..."Have capable women made it even easier for these men to become slackers on the earning and home fronts?"

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that article is 100% full of horse shit. There will always be lazy people of both sexes who want everything done for them.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)

Good point. We could reverse the genders in it and it would be just as bad.

Disclaimer: I'm not lazy all the time, but I do like having a whole helluva lot done for me, too. I'm okay with that.

I find myself wanting to buy tons of jackets now, thanks. ;P

Yay for saucy jackets! Wish I had time for a thrifting excursion with you.

I have been enjoying this weather, in part, because I can wear my black trench (with outfit-coordinating scarves, of course). I have always loved trenches, peacoats, and shirts with epaulets. I was the kid in 7th grade who saved up for six months to buy her first trench coat, which turned out to be marked down 75% by the time I bought it. What a thrill!

Trench + Pea Coat + Epaulet? Have a trifecta of coat love (http://www.andrewmarc.com/mia-16.html), darling.

OH Swoon... I have bookmarked it and I will find a way to make it or something like it mine...

That elicits almost (but not quite; ) the aesthetic reaction as this male beauty:

Look Sharpe, feel Sharpe, be Sharpe!

Although there's more of a Napoleonic vibe than really sets my air-raid siren going in some of these, well played.

And boxing skirts are just dumb. Poorly conceived and, most likely, counterproductive in the ring.

Thank you, sir! I hadn't noticed the Napoleonic theme, but you're right. Not surprising. Mea culpa.
