Four four four for my headaches

I've been meaning to do that for a while (it's kinda cute), but [livejournal.com profile] lorilie reminded me to finally post it this morning.

First, congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] radcliffe and [livejournal.com profile] motherteresatoo for both getting some fantastic news yesterday. Wooo and whew! to both of yous.

Second, [livejournal.com profile] 0verdrive has a 30-day subscription to CarFax. If you want to check the records of a car according to the VIN number, please respond to his post about this.

Third, Deke Dickerson at the Grand Emporium tomorrow. Sellout at the Jazzhaus Friday. So I'll get my dancing in for sure this week.

Fourth, for any of you playing along with the Lydia Freaks Out About Her Weight Game at home: The old scale died what I thought was a sudden tragic death, but it turns out it was just a slow, undetectable descent. I do not weigh 158 or even 160. No, my dears, the doctor's scale was more accurate than I dared fear and I'm at 172 now. So I've only lost about 8 or 10 pounds since September. Rats. It's time to get the hurt on, though, since we're looking at taking a cruise in September and I'd like to be in better shape for that. Especially since Dean would like to do some of the extra stuff like some hiking, scuba diving, and kayaking. Just thinking about that stuff gives me a hernia, so I think it's time to really get serious.

This morning: 20 minutes on rowing machine (I love those things, don't know why), 20 minutes on the treadmill (3.5mph on a 4% grade), and 10 minutes on the stationary bike (I was running a little late this morning). I want to stay at an hour of cardio five days a week. I need to add in two days of weights a week, but haven't found a good schedule yet. Sunday/Wednesday maybe? We'll see. I'd like to do the weights on days when I'm not doing my full cardio since I just don't have that kind of time in the morning.

Ohhhh I'm jealous - I've always wanted to take a cruise.

One thing my trainer suggests is intervale cardio work. work 5 minutes at your regular speed (say 3.5) and then one minute harder (say 3.8) then back to regular speed (3.5)

I try to remember to do this, but I have a tendency to zone out when I'm really sweating. On the treadmill, it's not so bad, but I have a tendency to start people watching on the bike. =)

It's a very good idea, though, and certainly helps with the boredome factor!

Good to see you at lunch yesterday, BTW! Thanks for the invite.

Where do you go for workouts?

Lawrence Athletic Center.

Bleh.

It would have been nice to see Sellout again.

My cousin is performing (I know, cheesy shows) on The Royal Carribbean...she is about to change ships in June (she is based out of the LA port now) and if I remember correctly that was one she mentioned. You could maybe meet extended family before WE even met...HAHAHA!

That would be cool!!!

You know, I had this discussion with someone else, and for people who want to perform (sing, dance, act), it doesn't really matter where they're doing it as long as that's what they're doing. I think it's very cool for her! I've also heard that working on a cruise (in pretty much any specialty area such as theater, or massage, etc.) is super rewarding.

Well, she's 19...left behind a full scholarship in performing arts to go star on a cruise ship, fell in love with a boy from Argentina who is also on the ship and well...when I was 19 I went to community college and worked in an office as I scrambled to afford school.

I'll find out for sure. I do know as a family member if I can get to the port of the ship she is on I can go on a cruise for about $30 a day...nice little perk!

Damn! Hmmm. At 34, am I too old to be adopted by you?

[identity profile] dixiemama.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure how it works...my aunt and uncle went and they keep bugging us to go. I do know you go on stand by but they have yet to leave family behind at a port that came on stand by.

This year is crazy busy already, so I can't find extra days to take off and go.

If we adopt you...all the crazy family b.s. drama comes with the package. You'll need to think LONG and HARD about being adopted into MY family. ;)
