Dude day

Deke was great last night and I'm actually not feeling too awful today. Got to bed by 2:00 and didn't go to the gym, so I managed just under 5 hours of sleep. Not shabby.

This afternoon the English department is taking the secretaries to lunch at India Palace for Secretaries' Day. Woo! It might be a Hallmark holiday, but dude, free lunch! At India Palace! Also, these things usually wind up being like 2 hours long so dude! Short work day! It's just gonna be a dude day all around, I think.

Tonight of course is Sellout at the Jazzhaus. I'm going to get there early to snag a table so everyone can have a place to store their crap. Please feel free to stop by early and share a drinkie with me so I don't get lonely, OK? Dunno if [livejournal.com profile] 0verdrive will get there early with me or not since he got paged at 4:00 this morning and might still be napping until just before the show starts. So. Buy me a drink for saving a table for your sorry asses.

No new Friday Five for this week, so here is the one from this week, last year:

1. What was the last TV show you watched?
An informational show on the Travel Channel about the cruise ship I'll be on this September.

2. What was the last thing you complained about?
Weddings, on [livejournal.com profile] danger_army.

3. Who was the last person you complimented and what did you say?
Lori, secretary to the assistant dean of the college office just before I started this post. She was feeling old and unattractive. She's actually a very cute blue eyed blonde who is only 5 years older than me. I told her she a was a hot mama and she shouldn't be down on herself.

4. What was the last thing you threw away?
A used kleenex.

5. What was the last website (besides this one) that you visited?
The John Kerry site that [livejournal.com profile] adammaker has posted on his LJ.

Annoying observation about myself: I seem to have an utter inability to remember to close my italic tags. Sigh.

I can go early with you if you like. If you don't already have a ride, I could take you so when Dean shows up you only have one car to leave in.

Let me know what time!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-04-23 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ooo! That would work great. And I get to ride in the new vehicle!

I'll give you a call. Probably you should pick me up no later than 9 and maybe a bit earlier. Last time I got there at 9 and got the last booth table.

Since you already have an offer, I will merely echo the ride offer for car simplicity afterwards. And nine? I can do that easily.

Cool! Thanks! If something happens and mellystu can't give me a ride, I'll let you know.

Dude day all around, dude! How is the India Palace? I developed a taste for Indian food in Denver but didn't know about any good Lawrence places...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-04-23 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
India Palace was yummy! No Chicken Tikka Masala, and that made me sad, but it was very good. The lunch buffet is good, although a bit steep at $7.95 even on weekdays. The restaurant is just half a block east of Replay, on the south side of the street.

I keep hearing positive things about Sellout; what type of music do they play?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-04-23 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
They're strictly a cover band. Everything from 70s funk to 80s everything to a little modern stuff (Eminem and Evanescence, for example). Fantastic show and you can't help but dance!

howdy.. I'm a friend of [livejournal.com profile] bellanorth but I also happen to be dating someone you know (I had to ask her because I assumed she would), [livejournal.com profile] chandara aka Chandara Gamal formerly of St Louis.. she said to pop on over to her journal and say howdy...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-04-25 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Very cool! I haven't seen her in forever. I'll pop by to say hello. Thanks! Gawd small world.

(reading your post on danger_army)
I didn't realize you two were not married. In very different reasons but in much the same - Pooch and I are incompatable in the wedding event part (catholic mass cremony vs not) but would have no problem being married.

That is why we did the "all but married" thing (wills / powers of attorney...)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-04-26 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we really need to consider that "all but married" thing...but maybe we can work out a compromise soon.

Yeap - I know that our compromise is a long time off - cause I'm not going to convert, and to him the wedding isn't a wedding if not a full mass catholic thing. But if civil unions or 'state marriage' for gay weddings becomes the law of the land and the catholic church does a seperation of the church and state marriage thing then maybe we can do that. But i've already been married so not a bit thing for me - but there are times when I think "why can't I do this"
