Truth in advertising

It's good to be reminded that there are other Father Ted fans out there (from here). I have to admit, I would be more inclined to see the movie "Gary Oldman is a Badass in Glasses."

"Gary Oldman is a Badass in Glasses."

I want to see that.

Seriously. Sign. Me. Up.

I'm going with you guys, when it comes out!

HYsterical!!! Those posters are the best.

Funny, when I watched the Oscars and they panned on Gary Oldman, the only thing I could think was "Wait? That's Gary Oldman?
DAMN! He gets better-looking every year."

Of course, the silliest thing to come out of the awards was Angelina Jolie's ridiculous stance, that was immediately parodied by the next recipients (http://popgoestheweek.com/2012/02/oscar-winner-jim-rash-hysterically-mimics-angelina-jolie-while-accepting-award/).

I try not to think about Angelia Jolie anymore. She (and her scrawny carcass) makes me sad. =( What happened, Angelina? WHAT HAPPENED?!?!

He's adorable!

I think Angelina has been replaced with an Alien mannekin. She looks like a robot, her face never changes from three expressions.

Heehee... while we're laughing (we are, aren't we?) Aliens sue NASA... (http://space.about.com/b/2011/04/01/aliens-exist-sue-nasa-and-the-u-s-government.htm)

Asked to describe the creatures, a White House aid, speaking on condition of anonymity reported "they actually look suspiciously like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Well, except for the fact they were about 8 feet tall with green, scaly skin and tails. Other than that they looked exactly the same. It was erie."

*cackles* I introduced my partner to Father Ted. He has a special appreciation, being a long-lapsed Catholic.

I just love Dougal so much.

Me too. We watched the series again as a marathon over New Year's Eve weekend.

[identity profile] alryssa.livejournal.com 2012-02-29 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god, the episode where he ended up converting a bishop to becoming a hippy was THE BEST.

I RP'd Dougal for a while way back in the day. It was DIFFICULT.

I RP'd Dougal for a while way back in the day.

This is, possibly, one of the most awesome sentences that has appeared in my LJ. It definitely makes the top ten.

If I have time this week, I'm so making myself a Dougal icon. Wish I had the capacity to make animated icons. I want one pic of him that blinks "Dreams" and then another with "Reality."

[identity profile] alryssa.livejournal.com 2012-02-29 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
He even confounded the mind turning efforts of the One Ring!

I can do animated icons, but omg they are such a PAIN IN THE ASS that I don't do them very often at all.

Oh, Dougal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-0cgq6THR4)

Small.

Far Away.

[identity profile] anomali.livejournal.com 2012-02-28 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Tee Hee!

Yep, another Graham Linehan fan here as well.
Did you like Black Books and The IT Crowd too?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-02-28 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I only know Father Ted.

I'm really not a big TV watcher, and there's only um...two? television shows that I've watched on my own without repeated encouragement from others (not counting stuff I watched with my parents when I was growing up). Ask [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick. It takes some serious strong-arming to get me to watch a television series.

[identity profile] alryssa.livejournal.com 2012-02-29 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I will recommend the IT Crowd something fierce!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-02-29 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Well we both know I'd be an idiot to disregard one of your TV recommendations. It'd be kind of like not listening to my own advice.

[identity profile] alryssa.livejournal.com 2012-02-29 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Any show that features a character who decides to EMAIL the fire department about a fire burning right in front of him is worth a look IMO. XD

Tree of Life is Spot On.

Ewan McGregor Looks Mighty Fine is a good movie.

Gary Oldman *is* a badass in glasses.

Ewan McGregor Looks Mighty Fine is a good movie.

Isn't that, like, all of his movies?

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2012-02-29 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe except Good Humor Moments But What The Fuck Did You Do To Ewan's Hair (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119535/)?

Yeah, that is some pretty bad hair. He had his not-terribly-appealing moments during Shallow Grave, too, but the charisma retained intact.
