Put that in your pipe
After two(ish) months of Tremendous Swelling like I used to experience after every meal (approximately four inches around my waist), I'm only swelling about two to two-and-a-half inches, now. Progress!
I'm sure the elimination diet is helping, but let me tell you, I would really like some mother fucking scrambled eggs right now. And a steak. Starting Sunday, March 11, chicken is going to be a little light on the menu around here. And I don't even want to look at fish for at least a week. Surprisingly, I am not missing fruit at all. Once in while I think I'd like to throw a handful of nuts into a salad, or a dollop of almond butter into a curry. But other than that, I'm not craving nuts, either. I think I'll just keep both of those things out of my mouth, unless I use them as a small component in a larger dish.
Speaking of my mouth, I got to say some really good words to my former bellydance teacher, whom some of you might know is 100% total crazycakes. She was at the drumming workshop on Sunday, and mentioned to me this workshop at the end of April. I told her that I'd heard about it, but wasn't sure I'd be able to make it. Before I could qualify my statement (I really would like to go to it, but time and money are so tight right now), she butted in with this: "Well, I know you don't like to come to events that I sponsor." I looked at her for a moment, and came up with this absolute gem: "Actually, JoAnne, what I do and what I don't do has absolutely nothing to do with you." And then I walked away.
That felt good.
Also contributing to my feeling good: The black 20-eyes arrived yesterday and I am wearing them today. Dese boots y'all. Unf. The brown ones are shipping separately. *shrug*

Lotsa o' YAY here! Boots!
Yay for progress! I sure hope this helps to heal things up so you can gradually have a bit more choices later. Nuts would be hard for me, too, you are what you eat, and all that.
Your words to Jo MADE MY DAY!
I'd love to hear more about the workshop, too.
Re: Lotsa o' YAY here! Boots!
Alas, the most meaningful thing I took away from the workshop is that I need a local teacher. I think I'm gonna hit Clark up for private lessons.
Re: Lotsa o' YAY here! Boots!
oh. Hey, want me to look through my vids and see if I have any drumming instructionals?
Re: Lotsa o' YAY here! Boots!
Thanks, though!
Re: Lotsa o' YAY here! Boots!
Of course, makes sense to me. I was thinking more in terms of drills, like Rick Fink taught us way back when, which reminds me, what DID I do with that tape? *g*

You're PUNK ROCK!
Bravo on your words. I'd say I wished I could do something similar, but I'd just as soon never see or speak to her again, myself.
Re: You're PUNK ROCK!
Wouldn't he just? I'm anxiously awaiting his reply to my email.
I'd just as soon never have another exchange with her again, too. But that would mean never going to another workshop.

She used to be a mess with some redeeming qualities (I'm talking years ago, like 1997). But now she's just a vortex of crazy and abuse. I refuse to have anything to do with her.
