On a different social networking platform which shall go unnamed here, [livejournal.com profile] roya_spirit said: Today is feeling more and more like a "Hold my earrings while I..." kind of day. Isn't that about the best descriptor of Some Days? Love it. Fit my yesterday, too.

Speaking of yesterday, the recruitment thing yesterday went mostly fine. So nice to put that thing to bed for another year.

I'm going to do my damnedest to wrap up stuff at work here by tomorrow afternoon so I can start my Spring Break Vacation on Thursday night.

Things I need to do before the end of the month:
1. Stop over-scheduling myself
2. Work on Sherlock coat mock-up
3. Figure out how to dye (and actually dye) the Sherlock coat fabric*
4. Make drum case
5. Find or make skirt for Sherlock costume
6. Switch out winter/summer wardrobes
7. Shop for/sew replacements for summer garments that are worn out or no longer fit
8. Get ready for Indianapolis trip first weekend of April
9. Figure out if I really have to pay the entire Peak Performance bill

*Nod to [livejournal.com profile] roya_spirit for her assistance with this

That's in addition to my social/personal obligations:
1. Hangout date with friend that's been postponed twice already
2. Retirement party for former boss
3. Finish watching Sherlock 2nd season
4. Crossfit intro class
5. Staff table at Bottleneck's Super Nerd Night
6. Hangout date with another friend that's been postponed once
7. Late Night Callers show at Bottleneck on the 30th

I think I probably won't be going out for St. Pat's Day this year. You all have fun. And if I decline any other social invitations for the next three weeks, well...you know why.

The dye may require a trip to KC.. I'm hoping "might not" for you. I'll have it figured out in the next day, I think I found my old notes.

Bless. Your. Heart.

Surely I could order it online, though, if it's not available locally?

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)

No doubt. You know I can find ANYthing online faster than we can get there in the car.

Even our cars.

HA HA HA HA HA!

I will be making a trip to Lawrence on Sunday, if it would be helpful for me to pick anything up closer to KC and bring it that way. (I live in Gardner, but head up toward OP a few times each week.)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the offer! Probably'll be easier for me to just order it, though...

Sherlock Second Season? How the what the?

Where'd you score Season 2 and who do I need to grease to get that for myself?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I have Secret Special Elves who occasionally get me faboo bootlegs.

[identity profile] sdemory.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh. Jealous! My elves only find things like Season 1 of "Game of Thrones" and pre-released music. Any chance you'd be willing to do a borrow-swap?

Incidentally, a skirt?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
We're Rule 63-ing them (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Rule_63).

[identity profile] sdemory.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see that, but I'm thinking of the line of the Sherlock coat. What sort of skirt? Pencil thing? That'd be sharp as hell.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Good fashion man. Pencil skirt, yep. With wedge heel oxfords.

[identity profile] sdemory.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh. Verr' nice. Hope that your Moriarty keeps with the full suit, though. The silhouette of Westwood's current run's pretty curvy, which could look sexy as hell on the right woman.

GQ. Don't judge.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hoping that the Moriarty doesn't bail. =b But yeah, she'd look fantastic in trousers.

What's your take on John? She's having some troubles with inspiration. Doesn't want to look too frumpy, which I totally get.

I'm using a jean jacket for the basic coat, adding a waistband and lengthening it to a tunic so we can have those bottom pockets. Should look pretty sweet. But she's coming up a bit blank as to what to wear under the coat. She's slim and petite (helpfully).

[identity profile] sdemory.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. Any chance you'd be willing to track down something a little more martial for the jacket? BDU coat in navy gives you the pockets and gives the implication of prior service and of EMT, both of which work well for John/Joan/Joanne. Hell, you could even give the implication of the Victorian and combine the BDU coat with a long skirt and tactical desert boots or something bootish. Make sure to keep the shirt buttoned to the collar, though, as that's the easiest way to pin Watson.

I do like the BDU coat in navy, though. Doesn't quite look like it's surplus at first glance and looks quite a bit like the jacket he wore in "Study in Pink."

Well, I'm making both coats from scratch...I hope. I'm getting a little worried about finding wide wale corduroy this time of year.

[identity profile] sdemory.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That might be your best option, then. Something off-the-rack for Joan would bring the contrast between the two in sharp focus. It'd give you a little less work to do as well, which wouldn't hurt.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-03-15 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
But the creation/sewing part is the part that I like.
