Watson is killing me

After the preliminary fitting of Watson's coat on [livejournal.com profile] msmitti yesterday, I made substantial revisions to the construction of the front of the garment. The back looks fantastic, the front...not quite reminiscent enough of the original.

I am starting over from scratch (almost) in regards to the front of the coat.

He made his own velvet frock coat back in 1997 for an Eighth Doctor outfit. It's gorgeous, and so pettable, but working with good velvet is such a pain.

Five hours in, and so far (*knock wood*) the new mock-up is looking FUCKING AWESOME. I think it's safe to start DRUNK SEWING because right now it's all autopilot.
