I'm soooo changeable
Squee: Non-spoilerish Stark/Rogers gif here. Click it. CLICK IT. Non-spoilerish Holmes/Watson gif here. Click it. CLICK IT.
Non-squee: The ache in my left hip has returned. It hurt all yesterday, when I stood for the vast majority of the day. Frustrating. I'm sitting on the lacrosse ball again today. I suppose it can't hurt to do that every day (metaphorically speaking, that is--literally speaking, it hurts like a son of a bitch).
Sherlock progress is slow-but-steady. Yesterday I traced the original pattern, made a mock-up of the original top and raglan sleeves, cut the pieces to create a set-in sleeve, and drafted those onto the traced pattern pieces to (hopefully) create a set-in sleeve and neckline that will work with the existing collar pattern. I cut the mock-up of that top, sleeves, and collar, and will piece those together tonight. Once that works, I can move to the full-length mock-up. Hoped-for date of mock-up completion: May 12. That gives me about a week and a half to put together the final coat and then two days to put the rest of the costume together.
I haven't decided on a skirt or whether I'm going to go with dark or light hose. I'm leaning toward dark (more reminiscent of the black trousers), but that might not show well. I need to try on both with the coat and yet-to-be-determined skirt. Does anyone have ideas on how to make a button-down shirt look tight (Sherlock's shirts on the show are quite ill-fitting on the too-small spectrum) without looking slutty? I'm thinking maybe pinning between every button except the one just below my clavicle to let that one pull tight while not allowing for that awful button-gape that we D-cup-plus girls suffer. Any thoughts?
Last night I re-watched "A Scandal in Belgravia," and was happy to be so pleased with my version of Watson's coat after seeing the original on the screen again. It looks really good. Here's hoping Sherlock comes together as nicely.
JFC this lacrosse ball is uncomfortable.
